Steve Tyler of Aerosmith and I go way back. He started putting feathers in his hair after he saw the way his groupies were paying less attention to him than me. I used to sport some grizzly furnace hackle in my coiffure all the time. He took it and ran with it, and once again got all the glory. I gave him the idea for tying a bunch of bandanas to his mic stand too.

Back to feathers... was talking to Lisa yesterday and told her we should learn how to install these feathers onto heads and cut the middle man out!

Dallas - you could be our first customer! Ness?

Wow, that's an excellent idea......'Lilleys Tackle Store and Salon' Maybe you could convince Curtis to do the nails and pedicures!

It is crazy how all of the hackle has just disappeared. I stopped in at Reed's Cabin outside of Montauk this weekend. All capes were gone except 2 packs of 4 half capes of the 4 popular Whiting colors and lots of 100 packs. As a fly shop manager in the past, I could count on one hand the capes I sold per year, but I always stocked most colors and grades of Metz back then. I am sure this will freshen up the supply chain in the next few years.

But as others have stated, I rarely use hackle on any flies any more. I use CDC for most dry flies and foam for terrestrials. Cheaper, and will float better without dressing.

Reeds has all the good feathers under the counter and sell only to tiers. Saw them turn down hair stylist and they did not raise the price to their folks. They will give you a verbal test on tying a fly before you get the feathers.

Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.

Why don't you get your butt up here and go on the float, i said i would pay for your gas!

But that won't put the gas in the tank to get there.

Send me the directions to this place and I'll see if I can borrow some money to get there. I may not be able to bring my yak, so if you can find me a seat, I'll consider it.

I really would like to attend this shindig.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Little feathers, beads or whatever would look silly hanging in my grey hair.

It looks silly in anyones hair.

My x wife had a friend over one time that took an interest in my fly tying equipment. She stole some feathers and a pair of hackle pliers to make something called a "roach clip". I guess she was too poor to hire an exterminator.

Ah yes. The old roach clip. I remember them quite well. Never did bother puttin' them feathers on 'em though. Just and old alligator clip was all I needed. Then again, I done burnt my finger tips quite a few times too. Then I discovered the fine art of pipe smokin'.
