We got one down about a mile above james on a crawdad, thought we could really tear them up but couldn't find them again after boating the first one. 32 + inches, 11 1/2 pounds and soaking in salt water. Ham Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Wayne, the dam at dawt is under water allowing an unknown amount of stripers, white, hybreds to move upstream to the cooler water. SWAG, hardbaits would work. I'd fish something that would appeal to whites, LMB, smallies, and spots. Any true stripers that piled on would just be a bonus. Members Jeff Hearn Posted June 22, 2011 Members Posted June 22, 2011 We used to soak our fish in salt water then 7-UP for a couple hours then hot grease....those stripers would be a fun tussel....They would be a handful on a 6 weight and cold water.......Gotta get back up there soon

I may rethink my flyrod situation and go with a Falcon/Curado and a box of X Raps. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Justin Spencer Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 Fly fishermen have been catching them so I would say each deeper hole has a school of 6-10 fish. I think this fish would have taken the first thing that hit near it, but the catching spooked the school and put them down. If we had been ready and thrown to the freshly caught fish I think we could have doubled up.
