Wayne SW/MO
I see no harm in keeping the legal fish on the bottom end, but please don't be one of those who kill a 20 incher just because you can. I still don't understand MDC's mentality in allowing the harvesting of fish that old, and which in Taney have probably been released numerous times, furnishing untold numbers of smiles. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Greg
I haven't kept a fish in years. But I have absolutely no problem with some being legally taken below 12". Wayne I agree with you in that I kind of hate to see the over 20" fish harvested. It just seems a waste and a bad end for a magnificent fish IMHO. But I kind of wonder if the MDC did that because as the trout get that big they turn cannibilistic? Maybe if we had too many over 20" fish we wouldn't have as many of the smaller ones? Just a guess. I might be completely off the mark. Wayne SW/MO
You might be right Greg, but those canniabals would sure get big. I suspect the MDC looks at it from the standpoint that few will, and that way no one will complain that they aren't allowed a chance to "catch" a big fish. gonefishin
Guys if you are upset because I asked about the upper slot there is no need to be. I was just asking because one I thought it was information troutchaser might want to know and second I wasn't really sure so I thought it best to ask. I would rather be fishin'. Greg
Gone I didn't perceive that anyone was upset. I certainly was not. 2sheds
Posession Limit means "total number of fish in your posession". This includes any recent catch plus everthing in your freezer plus what's in the frying pan. Now, the practical realm of enforcement is a separate topic. snagged in outlet 3
Right on 2sheds. I had a whole diatribe typed up yesterday about possesion limits but I deleted it. Enforcement? There was a guy caught at Taney a few years back with something like 200 trout in his freezer. It made the paper. Apparently he was observed making multiple trips from the river with limits on the same day. The authorities followed the guy home a couple days in row and finally got a search warrant. Now for that screen name. I really enjoyed your report on the 11 Point. Great work. 2sheds as in antlers? Snagged.
twosets
2nd shed may include a freezer full of trout for all we know. He is not saying. "This is not Nam. This is bowling. There are rules."
