You can find plenty of solitude on far better rivers pretty close to the Bourbeuse, you just have to shuttle yourself (same as the Bourb) and go on a weekday. Just did one on Wednesday. Gorgeous stretch of river, loaded with smallmouth, saw not a soul. And it was a superior river for both fishing and scenery, objectively...unless you really like slow and muddy and fewer fish.

I'm glad you had a good time on your float.

But more to the point, I guess I do really like slow, muddy rivers with fewer fish. And that is the end of this argument.

Don't get me wrong, I've fished the Bourbeuse, and I've had fun on the Bourbeuse. I'll be back to the Bourbeuse some day I'm sure of it. But like Joe said, fishing time is limited and lives are short...I'm gonna spend my precious time hitting stretches that have clear, running water over rocky bottoms through bluff-walled canyons and are full of fish...or I'll be out exploring new water.

And yes, to each his own...I guess I'll concede the "subjective" point. Look at all the guys who love lake fishing. Yuck. But it keeps them off the rivers, so good for them and good for us.
