I second this motion, two reports since last October, and the last one was asking for a report, as well. Beautiful stream (a little slick in spots)lots of quality fish, someone must be enjoying this stream. Just want to hear something, you can even stretch things some !! CM

I might go this fall once the party crowds a bit. Not

worth fighting the young, drunk, and stoopids.

Went this weekend, couples weekend so we catered to the women instead of fishing. I did get some fishing in yesterday on the float. Water is good, crowds are heavy. I had a nice rainbow of 19". Others were reporting great catches, one said he had caught over 70 above the Bayou.

The heat is on and the river is full of people cooling off, but the fishing is still good. I have been in April, June, and this weekend. We made plans for Aug. and Sept. trips.

AGFC posts weekly reports on the Spring River as does Mark Crawford on his guide website.

The Spring River at Mammoth Spring Campground has been good to slow fishing , it has been hot and dry and trout are deep if you are wanting to go out and catch monster trout then be willing to switch baits, flies and lures and move often if a spot isnt catching. They are out there just harder to catch we have had 3 lb. Browns to 6 lb rainbows caught at camp. Normaly on the upper fall but also right off campsite 1. Bait casters are catching on red then white power bait eggs, worms ,corn and shrimp. Fly Fishermen have been doing really well with the Mad Olive, Yellow Tailed Grandma Brownie , Grandmas Brownie and the Mad Caddis. All can be bought at the Spring River Trout Shop which is in the Mammoth Spring Campground area. Fishing has been slower than normal but we are catching you just have to go early morning and late in the evening. If you think you will catch your limit of 5 at high noon then your just fishin if you think your gonna catch some fish and have a relaxing time at high noon your a fishermen !! Have a GREAT Fishing trip !!

Also I might add the canoeing traffic on the Spring River has slowed and has been slower this season than in the past. Not so many so called drunks on the river and at our campground we dont have the traffic due to the fact we are above Dam 3 where they do the shuttles . So no worries with drunks and traffic...........

Hey Guys glad to see you all on here! (Mammoth Spring Trout Shop) Hope to see you all soon. Thanks for the report and I for one am happy to see the traffic with the unruliness slowed down a bit.

Had a great time there Saturday Afternoon despite all the rug sharks running across the falls and swimming among the fish LOL. Still caught 8 in about 3 hours (Trout Not Kids). Olive and grizzly streamer and Trout Magnet was taking then deep at the end of the grass beds. The 8' to 10' deep eddies behind rocks were holding fish. I had forgot how much fun it is to wade in the big boulders on the bottom. It looked like the dough baits were catching fish for the bait anglers. Laseter's hole was good also until about dark and the swim crew showed up & I had to come back up north anyway. Looking forward to getting back when I have more time.

It is a day to fish the current in the A.M. and the Spring River in the afternoon. 1.5 hour one way. After we had supper at Freds Fish House and drove home it was 10:30 P.M. But a good day.
