I think the thought is somewhat silly. Fish don't "learn" like humans. Anyone with much experience in fishing hjas caught a fish, or seen a partner catch a fish almost immediately after release. I didn't even mention the park trout that are caught with a lure in their mouth.

What is important is that the fish is returned in as good a shape as humanly possible, then the next guy will have a shot at it.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Another point is who is going to hire a guide for a couple hundred bucks a day to go catch and release 4 trout on Taney and stop or 6 bass on Table Rock and stop. I am suprised some of the guides on here have not brought this up yet.

I love how trout are lessor species because they are stocked. Makes me laugh every time I hear it. Crappie, blue gill and walleye are crap too. The only real fish are bass.

If I am fortunate enough to get a free day to fish I'm gonna spend as much time on the water as I can. If I see that someday I am harming the fish then I will quit but i doubt that will ever happen. I understand that some people (especially the catch and keep fisherman) get upset when they see someone just hammering the fish and releasing them.

If I'm not catching 50-100+ fish a day there is something wrong... and thats not to brag but Ive been practicing and improving my whole life to get to this point. But again I am not the type of guy to go in and hook almost every fish in the hole, Ill catch what I think is fair and move on to the next hole even though I could catch more just so that I am courteous to other anglers.

I used to be at that point in my life long ago when I would see guys cleaning up on the fish and releasing them, meanwhile I was catching just a few. This drove me to improve my technique and practice, adopt new ways, tie my own flies and come up with absolutely killer flies and jigs that catch more fish like those fishermen I was envious of.

I think C&R is great because each time those fish are caught they MAY be a little wiser and next time I may run into them they will be bigger and older and more of a challenge. Until I see that I am harming the fish themselves, Ill never catch 4 and head home :)

Dudes I fish with . . . . 175 fish days are just the anty. If you can't put that much stink on your hand in a few hours without breaking a sweat, as Tito would say . . . well then, I'd say you're an amateur. Trout park 8-year olds could do better, Donnie.

Last week I seen a whole team of Little Leaguers get out of a Chrysler mini-van at Montauk, still in their uniforms -stirrups cleats and all, and catch 130 fish EACH in less time than it took one of their little sisters to finish watching an episode of Spongebob Squarepants while still strapped in her carseat. And they weren't even that GOOD.

Well I feel like if I harm as little fish as I can why not keep fishing. It may sound selfish but hey I pay for my permit and I pay for my stamp I want to catch fish if you feel so guilty don't fish at all . Sometimes I accidentally kill a trout gill hooked or what ever i always try my best to save and revive the fish. But if it dies then oh well i fish taneycomo and trout are not native . I fish catch and let go some times they die but they add more all the time just so that we can catch them. So I don't wanna be rude but its like cows they aren't native to the us we put them here so that we can kill them and eat them. Like I said if your such a purest don't fish don't drive a gas burning car and don't eat meat. We only live once we should enjoy our lives before we die.Don't punish yourself its like life without sex.

jagermeister anyone?

175 fish in an 8 hour day is a fish every 2.5 minutes or so, and thats without taking a lunch or bathroom break. The trout parks don't release as many fish as they used to, so seems a little ambitious. I assume you were joshing a little? :hope-my-fake-smile-works-again:

Cmon, mitch.. He was Layin it on extra thick, eh? You didn't catch the next paragraph where he saw a team of little leaguers do the same within the time frame of a spongebob squarepants movie? lol

Fredrick, thank you for your insight... I've got a medication that can help you with that. ;)
