RSBreth Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Vandals Drain Noblett Lake. What in the world? I don't know why anyone would do this except to be malicious. How could the spillway be so easily screwed with by unauthorized people?
Gavin Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 That Sucks...I've stopped there many times to fish for Chain Pickeral...Hope they catch the moron(s) that did it but it couldnt have been that hard to do...the spillway valve is in plain sight right next to the parking lot.
gotmuddy Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 there is always some idiot that wants to ruin things for people. doubtful they will find out who did it. where does noblet lake dump into? everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Gavin Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Noblett Creek is a tributary of the North Fork of the White...Noblett Creek, Spring Creek, then the NFoW...
chambug Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Men (and women): This points up one of the main reasons why it is so important to get young people involved in the great out-of-doors. I doubt if this dumb deed was done by a person or persons who had been given the opportunity to take advantage of the many activities available when supervised and made available to them by an adult knowledgeable of the great pleasure there is in the natural wonders of our world. One of the best things we can do for youngsters is get them involved in sports and recreation activities in and around our lakes, rivers, and forests. We should look for opportunities to do so with our kids, neighbors kids, or any others, especially if they don't have a dad.

On a possitive thought, it looks like an older lake and now would be a good opportunity to do some clean up work and dredging. Gavin Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Good point Chief...The dam was built by the CCC back in the late 1930 and it was silting in badly where the creek comes in...bet the creeks below there have a rather large number of chain pickeral & LMB in them now.
RSBreth Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Yeah, I guess the "silver lining" in this would be if MDC and others chip in and help make it even better than it was before - and maybe make it harder to drain.
ollie Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 All good points. A very good time to dredge and maybe add a jetty or two. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
ColdWaterFshr Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Eco-terrorism? Maybe not that bad, how about eco-vandals? Vandalism for the eventual greater good of Noblett Lake?? Pictures of it look like it was a featureless-bottomed little lake, heavily silted in with a recurring moss problem. Okay, it wasn't me. I couldn't find this place with a GPS.
