Guest Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 We are looking for a nice campground at the lake this fall. Tent camping and pulling the boat. I didnt know which areas had been closed for the season or due to high water. We are thinking the dam area or maybe even Shell Knob. Theres a premium on scenery and peace and quiet. Any comments or suggestions will help.. Thanks
bluebasser86 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 My wife and I stay at Aunt's Creek and tent camp. Nice ramp right next to the campsites and plenty of room to park the boat next to the tent. Plenty of camping spots with electricity to charge the batteries too. Clean showerhouses and bathrooms too. There's good fishing all over close by and some pretty good scenery too. We only get down there a couple times a year but we love that campsite.
CaptainJoe Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 In the dam area, I would check out the State Park. Campground, marina, launch ramp. Great location and close to town. techo Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I would second the Aunt's Creek campground. Two ramps there! Cape Fair is an awesome campground (where I would camp) .....but farther away from the Branson stuff if you are looking at doing that too. Tim Carpenter
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Old 86. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Iliketoflyfish Posted September 10, 2011 Members Posted September 10, 2011 Old 86. Was down at the lake last weekend (Labor Day), and Old 86 was still closed for camping. They're all good fish. Some are just better than others.
magicwormman Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I would vote for Cape Fair also. Good fishing and not as busy as the main lake. Great food at Koppies!!!!!!!
rps Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Big M would put you close to the Kings entrance as well as Rock Creek. The usual state park facilities, the private marina with cafe on the weekend, and farther away from the crowd.
Champ188 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 But remember, 90 percent of the fish live in 10 percent of the lake, and that 10 percent just happens to be Aunt's Creek.
