Quite a few generic reports out there from the past two weeks but no specifics and most are reposts from other sites. I hate that. If you cannot write a fresh post for each location, don't write at all.

BFL results from last weekend were pretty sketchy. Most info that we can gather however points up the River. How far I do not know. Seems Buzz baits and follow it with a jig. Pretty good pattern as always from the 60 mile mark up. Anyone know the water clarity up there? Hate to run that far, but ya got to fish where they are a bitin.

Heard the dam area fish were in the backs of the windblown pockets and on 15' brush, but high sky and flat water just killed the bite. Clear water fisherman struggled in the BFL so it seems.

Calling for clouds and rain this weekend.

Any current news is good news.

Thanks Bill

I have heard of a square bill bite on laydowns and deadheads up the Gravois as well as buzzbait bite if you can make it contact the corner of a dock. If you can make it hit the foam you will have better luck, not so much if it doesn't hit. This is second hand, but my buddy "probably" isn't lying (but you never know). I'll be at LOZ this weekend (7mm and Gravois is where I'll prolly fish).

Hey Bill,

I don't have a ton of information or even a good report for ya, but I was down the past two weekends (25 MM) so I thought I'd share my info. Labor Day weekend I only got bit on main lake and secondary points as well as bluff/chunk rock type banks. We were throwing a jig and baby brush hog. Best fish was 3 1/2 and came on a main lake bluff.

Last weekend I was down for my bachelor party so I only fished for a couple hours Saturday morning before the fun commenced ;)... Saw very few boats around the 25 MM. The one thing I noticed this weekend was baitfish starting to school about half way back in the coves. Fish were busting them every once in a while. Had a few hits on a Sammy fishing those schools, but no hook ups. Only caught a few shorts on the bluff/chunk rock banks on the brush hog. I did have a nice fish break me off on the brush hog.

Like I said this isn't a great report, but maybe it can help you in some way. Good luck and please report back on how you did. Your reports are always extremely helpful!

Bill, my dad was up there fishing the BFL. He had the quality fish located just did not execute good enough to take home any chedder. He fished around the 24-29mm. The fish were in 15-18 foot. These fish he targeted with a jig and did well in practice. Also he lost a big fish in the tournament on the jig.Brush piles were holding these fish.

In the mornings he was throwing a buzz bait. Caught a few keepers, and broke a monster off that came from the front corner of a dock, took him straight down and wrapped its self around a cross bar. As far as water color up around the 60. I was up there two weeks ago, not current by anymeans but I don't see how it could have changed since we have had very little rain. Around the Bollinger area you had a nice green stain, you had probably 3 feet visability. As you went on up the river it got a bit more dirty. About a mile or two north of Rainy Creek is where it really changed. You probably had 2 feet visability. Nothing to be afraid of.

Thanks Gents, that was extremely good stuff. Pretty much got an idea what we are going to do. I'm from Rainey Creek, so know the area a little bit. I'll let you know how bad we get our ears pinned back.

Will have a great time pre-fishing the next 3 days though.

Thanks for the current stuff.

They just sucked a foot if water out over the last 3 days for some reason, not sure why because the mild temps should have had everyones a/c off.

I know the guage at Bagnell only reports a drop of less than 6 inches...but trust me, it was 10-12" and that hurts the pitchin/flippin' bite up river.

On the lower lake there are lots of scattered suspended fish on the 12-15ft flats that wont bite. The fish hanging around cover at the same depth are pretty suceptable to a reaction bite if you slam a DD-22 (or equiv.) into the cover and keep it moving....but if you do alot of pausing in the retrieve you'll get fewer takes.

A good rain...enough to start bringing the water back up. and pump some life into the shallows would be a game changer...but I don't think we'll get it this week.

Some of the "long boats" went into dry dock.
