Members NickIL Posted September 26, 2011 Members Posted September 26, 2011 Most recent fishing report for Glaize arm has white bass fishing very good in and around coves and windy points. Is there a good way to locate fish if they are not breaking the surface? Any advice would be appreciated.
fishinwrench Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 LMAO! Exactly WHERE in the Glaze could a person possibly be without being......"in or around coves, or points" ? Probably the easiest way to find them would be to speed-troll the 8-12ft. contour line with one rod rigged with a SR7-SR9 Shad rap, and the other rigged with a 1/4-1/2 oz Rattle trap or Red Eye Shad.
Bill Babler Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I would look on the Osage. Round the point past the No Wake Summer Bouys going up the Osage. Most all the wind blown rock points on your left were covered with them this past week. Wrench had the correct baits but I would for sure throw a roadrunner in 1/8th. and a Pop R. Don't need to see them surfacing, they are there. They are also all around the island just up stream from Tan Tara. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Guest Buck Creek Mike Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 It seems like I used to catch a lot more whites than I do now. I do believe one reason is that now I throw a jig and similar bottom hugging jigs more now whereas before I used to throw a lot more shad like cranks. I also used to not catch as many nice LM Bass before even though that was what I was after. Those were back in the days that I didn't know as much as I do now (which isn't saying a lot!) I used to fish points with carankbaits now I fish brushpiles with jigs etc..
Members CapnKenny Posted September 27, 2011 Members Posted September 27, 2011 Bill, any particular color in the Pop R? I may pick up a couple to use with my 7yr old for this weekend - thanks!
Bill Babler Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Guy at one of the bait shops up there recommended bone, I frankly I don't believe it makes a flip. What ever catches your eye will probably catch theirs. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
fishinwrench Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I strictly flyfish for the whites, but I gotta confess.... I am having a poor Fall thus far. I keep blaming the low and falling water because everything was going good for me until they pulled the plug, but truthfully I'm not sure what my problem is. I'd either like to have a 3 day frog-strangler, or to have the 82° water temps back....cuz Im strugglin' out there. The stupid crappie bite seems pretty consistent now though.

Have not witnessed any whites this week either FW. On the niangua last week, pick a west facing point or cove with the wind out of the north. Millions of white bass and stripers. They were breaking the surface in areas the size of football fields. Sometimes even larger areas than that. I have not seen white bass activity like that since I was a kid.
Bill B. Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 The same thing is happening at Truman. Young-of-the-year white bass, maybe four or five inches long, are schooled up by the thousands on the flats. Must have been one heck of a spawn this year.
