Justin Spencer Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Found this on my way back from picking up the van at Hodgeson Mill today. Anyone have any good suggestions on how to cook, figure I'll try a small amount tonight to make sure it doesn't give me the shartz. Gavin Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Nice find! I usually slice those up and cook them with some wild rice in chicken stock, or toss them in the gumbo pot.
Justin Spencer Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 He's a dumbarse. "The problem with a politician’s quote on Facebook is you don’t know whether or not they really said it." –Abraham Lincoln Tales of an Ozark Campground Proprietor Dead Drift Fly Shop
Trout Commander Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Gonna have some homebrew with it? I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
snagged in outlet 3 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I know that Justin, but why does he want to trash it. I gotta come back down there and fish. It's been many years since I fished there. I always just keep going to Mountain Home. For the ditch pigs as Gavin puts it. Pete
Justin Spencer Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Gonna have some homebrew with it? Just kegged and added sugar to my first batch today so it will have to wait a week or two. It's been many years since I fished there. I always just keep going to Mountain Home. For the ditch pigs as Gavin puts it. Pete Nothing wrong with the ditch pigs, but you do need to come down and try your hand at these frustrating wily trout. Gavin Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Yeah...why does he want to trash it? Thats a nice fresh one....but I've seen Ness ready to abandon a perfectly good canoe before !
ness Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Actually -- I had to look it up. Not much of an expert on wild mushrooms, though I had heard of Chicken of the Woods. So, yeah, kind of a dumbarse. I actually saw one similar to that in SW MO last week. Not sure how easy to ID they are. Anything bad that could be confused with those? John
