I've been chatting with Christiana for a couple of days now. I know there's not a whole lot of coverage on OA for lower BS but if anyone could share some ideas with her about what you think- what you know about structure and such- it would be helpful. I told her there are others in her field who will be reading these posts so I don't think it's a "leg up" just for her.

Thanks- Phil

Let's help the lady out guys! I know some of you are regulars down on K-Dock tourneys on tues, nights, I will be fishing it next tues and will let you know. It is a night tourney but the main thing is to find the fish, I also have a buddy in Flippin, Ar. that fishes alot on B.S. I will give him a ring. Good luck and safe travels. :D

Bull shoals is a tough clear water lake. I assume that you will be fishing out of the lower end. I haven't been below Buck Creek in a long time but nearly every point and many banks and cuts have man made brush piles. I know of one guy alone who has put 800 of them down.

I try to find them on my depth finder then use top water early and late over them. I like a Trig salt craw fished through them when there is no top water bite. Other than that I expect you will be fishing deep unless you get a good wind for a spinnerbait bite.

Thanks for the response guys. I sure do appreciate it. It sounds like I'll be working hard looking for brush piles during practice.

Since I won't have much time to figure out a pattern (color, etc), maybe you can give me a hint on color. I'd assume pumpkin would be a good color since the water's so clear?

Can you give me an idea about what depth some of the brush piles are in and how far from the bank? I'd like to have an idea where to start looking for them. Do you think any particular area is better than the others (where there's brush piles) for big fish (banks vs. points, rocky bank vs. clay bank (if clay even exists down there?), etc.

As you can see, this Virginia girl is clueless. I'm used to almost chocolate milk colored water with lots of current (Potomac River). If you'd like to email me, I would be forever grateful.

Thanks again!

Mostly what you will be seeing is rock bluffs with small coves a few flats and feeder creeks. The brush piles can be anywhere. Some are out in 40 fow on flats some are on points some a lot of them are in pockets. Some of them are placed by the state and should have signs on the bank. However, for ever on they have put out, individuals have put out dozens. You should be able to see the tops of some of them sticking out of the water.

I am sorry I can't give you more info. but I haven't fished Bull Shoals in over two months. I have been fishing more to the north lately.

Christiana - I can help there. On Bull Shoals, I catch bass on green pumpkin, watermelon, etc. - but over the years Motor Oil/Red Flake usually works best for me.

Whether it's Texas or Carolina-rigged big worms, finesse worms on a dropshot, wacky-rigged finesse worms with no weight around brushpiles, or crawdads on a football jig, nighttime or daytime, it seems like I always go to that color, eventually, on every trip. Motor Oil/Red Flake has put a lot of bass in the live well on Bull Shoals. Good luck in your tournament.

Christiana, where are you fishing out of, and do you have any preference, I.E Smallies vs Largemouth?

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
