5bites Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Im looking forward to the 2013 classic! It will be interesting to see what patterns develop for the elites at that time of year. I pretty much never winter fish Grand.
Bird Watcher Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Elk River will be a mad house. 50-11 nascar boats above Paradise point. Fellas getting in line to throw Jerk baits at the channel swing points. That's my prediction.
5bites Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Won't it be cool though!?! I expect them to fully teach us a thing or two. A lot of people are predicting low weight and tough fishing but I believe it's gonna surprise us.
fly2fish Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I know that the fish caught during the tourney won't make a dent in the bass population on Grand, but they are having the weigh in at the BOK arena in Tulsa about 75 miles away. Don't know how the fish are going to fair through all that. F2F
5bites Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 That is definitely a concern but they do this pretty regularly. With the grda as strict as they are I bet everything goes smooth.
rangerz21 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 i will bet there are more boats in duck drowning and ketchum than any where else that time of the year
5bites Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 i will bet there are more boats in duck drowning and ketchum than any where else that time of the year I bet you're right. Honey creek will be pressured too. With the classic only being about 50 boats and it being February their should be plenty of water to go around. That should make it a more exciting classic vs. last year when they were all piled into one spot.
rangerz21 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 yep honey will get pressured and so will horse with a good jerk bait bite
Members haleconst Posted December 27, 2011 Members Posted December 27, 2011 There will be a jerkbait bite going on then, but if the weather cooperates it could be won shallow.
Donna G Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I hate that the fish are being hauled to Tulsa, too, but at least it's not hot weather. I'm told the bags are checked for dead fish before they head out and if one dies on the way there is no penalty. Ok for the angler. Not so much for the fish. My question is, do they bring them back making that long haul again? Where are they released? Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915
