Ok I'm looking for a rod that can throw the huddlestone ROF 12 and still be used to throw other lures like crankbaits and spinnerbaits. I can't afford to go out and buy lots of rods for different occasions, as least at the moment, so I would like something that is versatile. What do you guys think of these options below or is there something else to recommend for my price range of 120.00 - 150.00? Thanks

Dobyns Savvy Cast Rod 7'3" Med Heavy 735 1/4 - 1 1/4 7' 3"

Powell Endurance Series Rods 7' 2" 1/4oz. - 1-1.5oz

St.Croix Mojo Rods Slop-N-Frog Heavy 3/8 - 1 1/2 7'

or buy a Abu Garcia REVO SX Casting Reel from tackle warehouse - $169.99 and get a free Abu Garcia Vengeance Casting Rod 7'6" 3/8-1 1/2oz.

Please help me out i'm going to have my wife order it for me for Christmas when tackle warehouse hopefully does their 20% off.

Seems to me the primary purpose will be lob the large bait, and the secondary is to fish large reaction baits. Neither requires great sensitivity. Based on that, the last option - the Revo SX with the rod - would be a great combo. I have fished a SX for a year and have found it reliable and quite easy to adjust to different size baits.

Would you be interested in a good well kept used setup? If so I know a guy who has some extra curados and fenwick hmg rods.

Possible, Looking for a lower 5 speed gear ratio. What size rod and lure weight and would he be willing to sell the rods by their self? Thanks

I would check out a falcon Bucoo Micro rods. They run about $130.

Not sure about the split but I know he has a curado with 2 sets of gears (3.8:1 and 6.2:1). I think it could be had for about $160 on an hmg rod. That combo cost $250 new not counting the extra gears and the other reel upgrades he has had done.

I have used the Revo SX and it is great. The only thing that I dont like about the SX is that it needs to be broken in. After about 5 trips out with the SX the brake controls felt a bit more loose and controllable. I would recommend the SX but I have not used the rod. Good Luck!

That sounds like a nice combo but I'm planing on having my wife buy this when tackle warehouse offers their 25% off so $160 my just be a little out of my price range. If he would be willing to take 140 for it I think I would take it. How hard is it to change out the gears? Think he would be willing to part ways with one of his rods?

In looking into different swimbait rods what do you think about these rods. Which would you say is the best bang for your buck

Well I already have a bass pro carbonlite 6' 10" mh 3/8 - 1 oz and a cabelas prodigy rod 7' MH 1/4 - 1 oz. I was just wanting to get the most out of my rod however my main focus is on a swimbait rod. I think I got it narrowed down to these rods below. Which would you guys choose ? Any info on these rods would be great. Thanks

Dobyns Savvy Cast Rod 7'3" Med Heavy 735 1/4 - 1 1/4 7' 3"

MOJO BASS

MBC711HMF Flippin' 7'11" H Mod. Fast, 1pc, 14 - 30#, 1/2 - 2oz, 5.3 $ 130

Daiwa V.I.P. SM Cast Rod 7'3" Heavy 1/2-1 1/2oz $59.95

Cabelas has Dobyns Savvy's on sale for $119.00 right now in the Bargain Cave. However they don't have the 5 series, but do have 734's. They had Extremes yesterday for $219-229 but they're already gone, I imagine the Savvy's will go quickly also at that price. I have a Loomis GL2 855, I use it for heavy Biffle type heads and heavy football jigs, it's reasonably light and sensitive for a 5 power rod. Dunno what it would be like with heavy swimbaits but should be OK. I would not use it for cranks or spinner baits however.
