johnm Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Hey guys got a question... I have a Minn Kota maxxum 101 pro. Last weekend it ran fine then all the sudden would stop then run again... (Looking online I found it could be the armature?) but not sure. Any advice? Could I change it myself, if so how much and where can I buy it. If not where should I take it? From Lampe area. Thanks
Dutch Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Take it to Scott and Brad at Marine Repair Center on Prince Lane in Springfield. 1-417-833-9191
Members Golf Pro Posted December 20, 2011 Members Posted December 20, 2011 Do your due diligence as I had the same problem and found it to be a bad wire at the plug in. Also had the same problem another time and found it to be a loose connection at the batteries.
Members 8pounder Posted December 20, 2011 Members Posted December 20, 2011 Since we're on the subject of trolling motor problems, I have a MK Maxxum that will switch into high speed by itself. It seems to happen if I've maxed out the foot pedal direction with either the toe or heel. I'm on the watch for it happening now but the first few times it did it I was almost tossed out of the boat. There have been other times when it won't work at all. Boats and trucks come in one color - RED, and peanut butter has to be crunchy.

Members Matt Henry Posted December 20, 2011 Members Posted December 20, 2011 I had a short at the wiring under the top cap that caused the same problem. It over heated and melted the wire covering. Matt Henry

There have been other times when it won't work at all. It is more than likely the switch in the pedal. My trolling motor did the same thing and it was the switch. Not very expensive and easy to replace.
