Hello to all the members. I grew up in the Ozarks (Spfld) but now live in St. Louis. I look forward to reading and contributing on this site. I mainly enjoy fishing for Trophy Catfish on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers in and around St. Louis. I am just starting to reach out and fish some lakes also.

My next trip will be to Truman Dam, or trying for winter catfish below the dam. It will be my first time there, so I hope to etch out a few catches so i am not skunked. Fishing in a lake seems to be a bit different than on a big river. I have heard it is a good area for targeting catfish, so I plan to give it a go!

Thanks for joining.

I've thought about starting something on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers but haven't had much interest expressed here on the forum. They are both I would say part of the Ozarks so - we'll see.

Are there any forums or sites anglers follow that cover those rivers and fishing?

Yes, the biggest site regarding catfishing is 'catfish1.com', which lists a section based on state. Missouri is one of the most popular, and most visited. Missouri River and Mississippi River is well known for producing trophy blue cats. AND, the Missouri is only going to get better, because commercial fishing has been banned on the Missouri River for approximately 7 - 9 years now.

Welcome. My friends and I always want to go out there but we don't have a boat big enough. We do run lines on the upper Miss. Maybe you can show us some secrets of fishing the faster current?

Good having you here, worked with a guy who used to catch big cats and walleye below Winfield Dam on the Mississippi. Looking forward to your reports
