Well I can't say I've had much of the line cutting into itself as far as I know. Though with both Mono and braided, I've had some cutting into the metal, particularly the metal pins reeling in the line (the steel/whatever they use for those cheap reels is probably really soft), which can bind up the line enough to ruin a decent cast, but I've been improvising temporary fixes to that and it's not too bad right now.

Actually one of the main reasons I went with the braided line on that one was because I was trying a lot of the catch and release city/county park fishing for trout this winter, and little (well nothing to be honest) came of it. And some of the people mentioned the 10lb line is too big so the trout see it and don't want to bite. So I had already bought one of the cheaper braided lines and bingo, I already had it, and I wouldn't need to sacrifice line strength for lower profile. So, I spooled it on. Then once I got going, I really started liking the braided line not being as stiff as mono, so I've stuck with it in that reel so far. Can't say I've had any more luck tricking the trout with it though.
