Njardar Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I'm starting to tie warm water flies including large mouth bass flies and I'm looking for recommendations on what to tie. I'm already tying P Ehlers grim reaper and super worm and would appreciate any recommendations. Charlie
Outside Bend Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Jack Gartside's gurgler pattern is a topwater standby, and I've caught lots of largemouth on meat whistles as well. <{{{><
Gavin Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Big Blockhead Poppers....there is nothing better than a bass busting a bug!
fishinwrench Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I'll never go after anything with "bass" in its name ... without a Charlie's Airhead, it has fish mojo in spades!
Njardar Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 Definitely some great suggestions to keep me busy until spring. Keep me coming... Charlie
Flysmallie Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I like Gavin's blockhead. I've received a couple in a swap and they fish well. Out of all the topwater I like the Gurgler the best. Just a solid white with a squirrel tail. Works every time. Â Â
Njardar Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 I'll never go after anything with "bass" in its name ... without a Charlie's Airhead, it has fish mojo in spades! FW, do you know where I can get the pattern? A couple of Google searches did not turn up a recipe. Thanks!
fishinwrench Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I'll see if I can edit the SBS to post here. The original SBS I put together wasn't OAF friendly.
Guest Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Great write up FW, that thing tears them up I am sure. I really like sneaky petes, they have always produced for me.
RSBreth Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I would never be without poppers, sliders, and some Clouser Minnows.
