Just tie on an A-Rig and drop it in, that's all it takes these days, you should be able to make a couple of casts and have caught a days worth of fish!!!!

I am planning to come down tomorrow morning don't get to fish table rock much. Was thinking about fishing the James river arm will probably put in at cape fair. Any tips hints or suggestions would be much appreciated

With those temps a wart should be pretty good around Cape Fair, especially if you get some wind. Think I would look at some deep fish down in the lake if it were me though.

And Bimmer, what do you mean you "winterized" your boat? I know I summerize mine when the hot weather gets hear and I start hitting rivers but it is rarely too cold here to completely eliminate fishing for any extended periods in the winter. There is always short stretches of colder than average days but at least our lakes don't usually become solid like the poor folks up north. I too got out on MK day and had fun fighting the wind. I caught 6 with 5 good keeper sized but should have landed another 4 or 5 that struck at my offerings. Still a great day to go in mid January and not have to wear several layers of clothing.

The temps get well below freezing here and my boat has a cover but it's outside all winter. To prevent damage from freezing, I hook up my water supply to the outboard and get the engine running. I disconnect the fuel line and let the fuel in the line run through the carb. Just as she's starting to run on fumes, I spray some fogging oil in the intake. I disconnect the water hose and while the water is draining out of the motor, I pull the spark plugs and clean them, spray more fogging oil in the cylinders and then put the plugs back in. I also put some booster additive to my fuel tanks to keep the fuel fresh. That's how I winterize my boat.

Sorry Bimmer, I intended to add a " :D" in my post but the new formating threw me off. I know a lot of folks winterize their boats. It is an inside joke between myself and my fishing buddy in AR that we should prep ours for the summer and not the winter since we usually leave the lakes alone from July until mid September. Just too much traffic and heat to be on the deck of the boat when wading streams offers more fish and less company. I am also spoiled since I keep my rig inside the garage and it is only subjected to the severe cold when I hook it to the back of my truck, and I definitley try and pick the days that offer more suitable temps. Luckily, we have had quite a few so far this winter.

Yeah, I was prepared for a no-fish winter especially since I attend classes full time at Missouri State. 2011 really was my first year out fishing with any mind of what to do and where to fish here in Missouri. I got a work comp settlement for a back injury and the first two things we bought was an adjustable bed and a fishing boat since the new wife and I love to fish. It's a little hard on my back but I love being out on the water and fishing. Fishing has been in my blood since I was a little boy. I was going to be an icthyologist and work in the fisheries on a state or federal level but 3 months into school I hurt my back and now I can't perform physical labor so I've taken up a creative writing major and maybe I can write grants. We'll see. Still about 2 years to go. I can't wait for spring so we can get an early start.
