dtrs5kprs Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 A woman in Reeds Spring MO has filed for full custody for an Alabama Rig, claiming her Ex has repeatedly tried to drown the Rig. hee-high-larious, and understandable at $25
cullinby9 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 So you have never used more than one lure at a time? No double fluke, no jig as a sinker for drop shot/ c-rig... ect? no not in a tournament I have used double fluke once in practice on schoolies thats not my style when I dropshot its only to fish on the graph I very rarely c rig only if I'm on a school and need something to switch up from the jig, crankbait or swimbait. Does anyone know anybody that has ever cracked 25+ on a double fluke or frontrunner? I'm sure someone has but I've never seen it.
riverfish Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 i think this is an issue that could be argued about till the end of time the thing is that if the "elites" banned it there is probably a good reason for it. i mean the board was made up of some of the best bass fisherman in the world. i think im gonna start a new topic asking which came first the chicken or the egg

Dont be misguided to think they are the absolute best. There are MANY better out there that do not wish to pursue the tourney trail. And this argument will be moot next year when the dam thing doesnt catch fish like it used too..... just like every other new thing that has come along. Cull... never cracked 25 on fluke or front runner, but have with a jig in front of c-rig, and saw it many times... Have also caught many more doubles with front runner/spook than with the a-rig, used them both about the same. Only been in the area year and half and had never used front runner til I got here.
Whack'emGood Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Probably cause the people running it don't want their butt kicked. There is simply no reason to ban the A-rig in a local tournament. If they are its because the people that always do win are worried. Imo You can lmo all you like, but that doesn't mean you know anything about the organizers or competitors in this tournament series. The organizers took a phone poll of the competitors, and the rig got shot down 84% to 16%. The bottom line is, the vast majority of the competitors in this tourney series believe in fishing one bait at a time. Also, they don't allow more than one rod at a time, live bait, or trolling. I suppose you think there are political reasons why those rules are in effect also. You can think what you want. You didn't get to vote though, so it doesn't matter. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
bobw Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 One final story on the Alabama Rig. Last years winner of the Winter Bass Games the Float N Fly was seen at the junction of Hwy. 13 and DD holding a sign, Will Fish For Food, sorces say the Alabama Rig has left the Float N Fly unemployeed and broke. A fund has been set up at the Mule Express to help the Float N Fly get back on his feet. Please be generous with you donations that at this time are not tax deductable. Experts expect more lure to hit hard times as the Alabama Rig gains popularity. Please Remember don't not release you unwanted lures into the wild, they can not survive on their own. Contact me and I will provide shelter for all unwanted lures.
Champ188 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Hmmm, Central Pro-Am polled 220 anglers and the response was 69% yes (allow the A-rig) and 31% no. So CPA will allow it in their tournaments. Pretty wide disparity between that group and the Friday night Mill Creek bunch. Gotta say, I have to agree with cullinby9 that the same guys are still gonna dominate derbies. There is a certain crowd who is able to spend a lot of time on the water (guides, independent business owners who set their own schedules) and there is no substitute for that. The A-rig may make 20-pound bags possible for the weekend warriors, but it's gonna put 30 pounds within reach of the big guns. Already has.

I can't speak for the CPA guys, but the Mill Creek guys are mostly "old school" type of guys. Maybe that would explain the difference in voting between the two groups... that's all I can figure. Sore Thumbs Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I'm developing a new rig, you just cast it out let it sink and it scares the fish so bad they jump in the boat to escape; It's called Chuck Norris! That is dumb
Feathers and Fins Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Bry that is an wonderful thought out post. I once wrote an article discussing { elite"s } what makes someone and Elite is more recognition then anything else. Via the Internet or Mass Media. Name association seems to be what makes a person "Elite". I know many anglers and hunters who on any given day can outfish or out hunt these supposed "elites" To be perfectly honest I know on this site alone there are guys given the time and money to become a "name" in the sports would be called "Elite" To me the Elite person is the one who shares his love whatever it is with anyone who wants and will do it for free. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
