Guest csfishinfool Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 So this thing is so good, I can sell ALL the other fishing tackle I own and just fish the A Rig and win every tournament I enter? Is that the basis for banning it? Some one has discovered the Holey Grail of Bass Fishing, man, it just got a lot cheaper and a whole lot simpler to bass fish, 1 rod, 5 baits and that is it. Thank you to Mr. Poss, I can now sell all my other tackle and all 15 or 20 of my other rods and fish the A Rig. Who wouldn't be in favor of that? Next year you will go to Bass Pro and they will have 80,000 square feet of nothing but A Rigs. Sure make it nice when your wife asks what are you going to buy at Bass Pro, I guess A Rigs, that all they have any more! Your talking about this Alabama Rig like its a bait. You throw all of your tackle away you would just be left with a head and five wires with nothing on them.
Gone Fishing Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I am sure Bobw is aware of how the rig is used and decorated. I agree with him in that there will be certain times and conditions that the conventional baits will outfish the rig. I have tried it though and it does seem to catch more fish this time of year than normal. But with the unseasonably warm weather we are having it is kind of like comparing apples to oranges. I am curious to see what happens when the water temps get on down around 40 degrees.

Not sure you can flip and pitch with it, so you might need some of that stuff still. Not sure how its gonna work punching grass or vegetation. Pretty sure you can't use it around lily pads either. Might be hard to skip under docks too. Im thinking your local Bass Pro will still have a few other things besides A-rigs.

Winning weight was 28+, then 26, 22. So i would say the A-rig is working in colder water

I don't like fishing in walleye tourneys......so I DON"T.

Its a Biat just like any other Bait, They all have their uses and places to be used... Throw it in weeds, grass or pads and you will be making a salad, Throw it around timber or rocks and you will be making lake decoration, Pitch it under a dock and the cable monster and christmas trees and concrete blcks will eat it... This is an open water bait just like its big brother the Umbrella Rig! It has limitations and is not the end all be all bait... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
roy_eros Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Most of the tournament results I have seen from Arkansas and Missouri have been comparable weights to the past few winters, and most of the same names finishing consistently at the top. I just don't personally see much justification for banning this rig from recreational fisherman or tournaments.
Sprint21fter Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Agree 100% with Mr. Eros. Boils down to finding the fish. All the guys that are consistant on Table Rock will still be the guys to beat.

Now if you were to say that a new crankbait is just like any other bait i would agree. This is not a Bait!!!! its a method for rigging multiple baits

I don't like fishing in walleye tourneys......so I DON"T. I'm not going to fish it. Well see if I can compete against five lures at once. But im no donator buddy
