This will be my first time fishing the White and I was wondering how everyone felt about using live shiners as bait. I am heading over the first week of March. Also, what are some other techniques to catching big browns?

I've posted a couple of articles on ozarkanglers/white-river just last week. Also see Steve Dally's site, that's linked on those articles, for info.

Be sure to know the regs. Live bait is illegal in certain parts of the river.

Also, I plan on staying around the state park and I was wondering if there was any deep holes in the area.

Be careful of the regulations, and my advice for your first time on the White is to hire a guide. They have a wealth of information and can help you learn the river in a productive and safe manner.

Might add many drown every year, it is not forgiving in high water....Hire a guide, call Rim Shoals 870-435-6144 he will hook you up with what you need.
