Should have mentioned what a good idea the TX rigged baits look to be. Maybe one way to keep them from becoming tree ornaments.

Bill, wonderful info as always. Unless the creek floods tonight I will be out in the morning to try my first hand at the rig. Will let everyone know what not to do when I return.

You too, huh? Well, I guess I'm one of the last holdouts! :crywithno:

Roy, great job on the striper. Would love to see what the rig looks like just before you but it into the sinker. I am working on building some, found the wire online cheap, now just deciding how to build.

Pssttt gents. Go to you closet ( when the wife aint home ) borrow ( never to be returned ) some of clothes hangers ( wire ones not plastic lol ) and you have very heavy wire for the rigs. It works and ten wire clothes hanger at the store are cheap. Now this is for 2oz weights or larger.

In this picture you can see kind of how I have been making my rig.

Looks like you are using an EWG hook on some of the swim baits instead of a jig head. If the baits aren't the exact same weight, does it make it run different? Nice striper. I think the walleye and northern pike up here in Michigan might like this bait too. Any body catching smallmouths on it yet? I know the Lake St. Clair smallmouth anglers are itching to give it a try up here.

Caught a 20.5" smally on Beaver the other day on an A-rig. 2 other smaller ones on it in the last 2-3 weeks, too.

I got into a nice school of Smallies on bull shoals a couple weeks ago, caught two that were right at 4 pounds.

Yes EWG hooks in 2/0or 3/0 work well with the swimming flukes and fluke jrs. I have been running the same 5 baits I haven't really experimented with mixing them up. This does decrease the weight of the rig, making it easier to cast, and you can really slow roll it without getting to deep.

For those who haven't tried this rig yet, be aware of your casting motion, and how much torque you are putting on your rod and wrists. I have had the best luck using a slow side sweep to toss the bait out, not as hard on you or your rod.

Next time I get a chance to build some more I will add some pictures of each step, I have been tinkering around with several different designs and I really like the latest design. Might save some of you guys some time and materials.

Have you noticed any significant differences in hookup with TX rigged vs. open hooks? Like the idea of being able to keep the weight down.

Should be interesting to see how it does on the brown fish when they move into "grubbing" locations in a month or so.

Guys think about a ball of bait fish swimming, when u see them are there any different bait fish in the group, not any i have ever seen that i no of.i no some of u guys do mix it up but if i was a fish that would look funny to me and u would not get bit as often.Think about it. Just my 2 cents good luck out there.
