dtrs5kprs Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Just curious as to what knots all you evil A-riggers are using. Normally I use a glued plaomar with heavy braid, but that would be one heck of a palomar loop to go around all the wires.
Iclass Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Double San Diego cinch knot. Drop of glue just before you cinch it in.

Sore Thumbs Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I used the palomar and it worked great. It is one hell of a loop though.
jeb Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I like the San Diego Jam knot. Same knot I use for all my lures. I've had quite a number of snags where I had to pull very hard on the 65lb braid to get my A-rig back, to the point of cutting a couple of fingers a bit, and the knot has not failed me yet. dtrs5kprs Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 I used the palomar and it worked great. It is one hell of a loop though. Right. I was messing with a rig and a palomar in the basement and had a hard time imagining that loop blowing around in the wind. Figured I would end up tied to the trolling motor and a whole pack of swimbaits. Thanks all. I'm familiar with a few of those, will give them a test run. The braid sort of throws a wrinkle in there.
Champ188 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I'm using a Palomar and so far have managed not to tie my nose or an ear up in the rig. Could happen though. Certainly takes quite a loop to pass that whole contraption through.

Certainly takes quite a loop to pass that whole contraption through. In my case, I mostly fish alone, so being looped to the TM could mean a long afternoon . Played with some braid and fluoro leaders for finesse last year and went back to straight seaguar after trying to make all those little loops in a good old 25mph wind.
CaptainJoe Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 That is why I went with the Fish n Fool knot. No loops and the knot beat the Palomar in a strength test on the TV show Knot Wars Captain Joe Hreha Owner of MO Fenchbulldogs.com; Captain Joe's Guide Service (Retired); OAF Contributor; & Captain, U.
