Greasy B Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 A month ago I ran across something about another bureaucratic hurdle being overcome with regard to minimum flow implementation. Does anyone know what’s going on? His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. Ham Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I'm not at all convinced that this will happen in my lifetime. I'll be shocked if this actually gets going in the next 10 years and mildly surprised if it happens in less than 20 years. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Greasy B Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 As an angler I concider myself an optimist, but its hard to be optimistic about thIs. We've quite a few years of good water lately and some much improved fishing because of it, I don't count on it lasting. I'll never forget the horror of swimming in near bath water at Wildcat access back in the 90's. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 9, 2012 Root Admin Posted February 9, 2012 Talked to a fly shop owner last week and he said 18 months.
OKFlyFisher44 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 If they would run a minimum flow of 2000-3000 cfs on that river, it would be epic. It's saw awesome at those flows, be it floating or wading. I mean, as far as floating, it's just fine when it gets up around the 15k-18k cfs mark as well but if they would let it flow at 2000-3000cfs as the "low water mark"....yeah, totally awesome. Just my opinion though. Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
Greasy B Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 800 cfs is the volumn I recall, way way better than current min which is essentially what leaks through the generators and the dam, about 30-50 cfs. My understanding that a portion of the storage is being allocated, in drought conditions if the allocated water is gone the min flow goes back to the current status quo. If or when min flow happens it will change the river and fishery in was we can only imagine.
