mic Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Does anyone know of a identification book for bugs and crustations for Ozark creeks. I would like it to use as a learning tool for my 10 year old daughter.
Justin Spencer Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 They have a good free crayfish pamphlet, and I think a mussel one, but aquatic insects I have not seen. jdmidwest Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Chuck Tryon's Trout book had information on insects and hatches. I think there are drawings also. I think someone else did one, but can't remember who. Probably MDC website would be a good place for online info. exiledguide Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 My retired librarian bride said to call your library and the reference librarian should be able to find what you want and if your local library can't help call St. Louis city or county library. That was her job for a number of years she actualy helped high school kids get financial aid or scholarships for college when the school conselers weren't able to.
Gavin Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Whitlock's guide to aquatic trout foods is pretty good starter material and troutnut.com is a free online resource.
Midwest troutbum Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Librarian or library is an excellent idea.... Also try writing the Department of Entymology (study of insects) at any 4 year university...The professors or departments usually have small paperback publications that are particular to the region.
