Members AFOSTER Posted March 14, 2012 Members Posted March 14, 2012 I will be fishing table rock for the first time ever. ill be in the long creek area in mid may What tips, locations, baits etc do you guys recommend to catch largemouth? is there a certain bait. presentation that works very well on table rock at this time of year? and locations would be a big help as ive never been there
Ham Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 It'll be stupid good in mid May. Do an archive search for Table Rock fishing reports and read what worked in previous years. Fish will MOST likely still be fairly active and fairly shallow. You'll want to be on the water AT daylight and dark. There will be less ppl water sking then. Jeremy Rasnick Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Don't worry about boat traffic in Mid May. If you want to keep it simple bring a football jig, a watermelon shaky head, and a spook. That should have you covered for any part of the lake this time of year. I am sure the A Rig will also be a key player for the post spawn bass as well.
exiledguide Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Danger, Warning, Beware! My bride and I will be fishing Indian Creek May 14 to May 18 that means just like last year, you can expect storms and major flooding high winds etc and maybe I day of great fishing. It happens every time she picks when we go on a fishing trip.........
dtrs5kprs Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Also need some smoke grubs and swimbaits for post spawn fish. Flat gravel and over deep trees (as in bluff ends, swing banks).
Members AFOSTER Posted March 16, 2012 Author Members Posted March 16, 2012 Thanks for the tips guys, How deep are we talking here? Im used to small shallow lakes of northern missouri so deep to me is 20 feet. i have a feeling you want much deeper than that
dtrs5kprs Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Thanks for the tips guys, How deep are we talking here? Im used to small shallow lakes of northern missouri so deep to me is 20 feet. i have a feeling you want much deeper than that Look at big flat gravel places that have channel access and fish 10' to 35' or so depending on sun and wind. That will put you as much as 2-3 casts distance from the bank. Boat may be in 40' or so. Put the boat where you would have a hard time hitting a can on the bank with a 22LR and swim that grub at various depths, drag a c-rig or FB jig. Deep trees with a good 10'-20' over the tops, boat might be in the channel in 80'-100+. Might be on main or secondary points or ends, swings, even deep wood on swings in the creeks. Swimbait fish, and a chance at a good one. Spooks, redfins, and chuggers should be working then too. Same kinds of places plus points. Early and late, maybe all day if lots of bait working or clouds. The small Yellow Magic is awfully good. Don't get spooked by the clear water and depth. You don't plan a trip to TR to spend all your time looking for dirty shallow water.
