How is the White bass/Hybrid fishing going on the Miss.?

I have a buddy who caught some good ones the other day. I don't know how to post the pictures with my phone. If I get a chance this weekend I'll post a report. I'd like to Learn more about it myself.

Aren't those in pictures above Asian carp also?

Yes they are. I think Snap is referring to the silver carp that are known for jumping at the sound of motors and boats, commonly injuring the occupants inside.

arent all carp asian carp?

Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds.

Ok, Wikipedia has given me an answer. These carp are known as Asian carp to us.

Eight Asian carp have been substantially introduced outside of their native ranges:

grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

common carp (Cyprinus carpio)

silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix)

largescale silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys harmandi)

bighead carp (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis)

black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus)

common goldfish (Carassius auratus)

crucian carp (Carassius carassius)

mud carp (Cirrhinus molitorella)

I'm in no mood to Gargle it right now but I wanna say that Buffalo are native to the Miss/Mo drainage. Not aure why I think that otger than I know the commercial fishermen on the Miss used to set gill nets for them back when I was a pup.

My Dad and Grandpa cut quite a few big holes in gill nets on the lower Salt and the Miss around Asburn after getting them caught in the prop. Nothing pissed my papaw off worse that hitting a gill net and having to spend 30 minutes getting loose from it. And those nets were always loaded with buffalo.

I think the Black Carp is the next species due to wreak havoc to our waters.
