hoglaw Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I had a dandy myself. In three weeks of spring, I've joined a new golf club and played two and a half rounds. I've hit balls a few times. I caught some wiggle wart fish on beaver and some honking finesse worm crappie. Didn't manage to get in a river float, but I did walk to Kings River Falls today and take a polar bear swim with my girlfriend. Have to say, it was a nice spring and I'm glad I did my best to enjoy it, because I'm going to miss it after this week. I count a total of eleven possible inches of rain over the next four days according to NOAA. The last time this happened everything was hammered until May, and then it got hot. Here's hoping that doesn't happen again, but I'll set the over/under on rain for the next ten days at a foot in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I expect the river arms of Beaver to be chocolate milk shortly. I hate when this happens, but at least I can sleep with the windows open. Hope last Spring doesn't repeat itself and everyone stays safe.
Feathers and Fins Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Hog, If it happens I expect a massive striper point on the slack side of the current on all the points. Could be another banner year for monster top water stripers. Bass this will hurt the spawn but at the same time will stack them up as well. Catfishing should go off the charts in Prairie Creek and the back of Montne. The down side is the flooding it may well cause below the dams. I hope the weather man is wrong not like he is ever right but lets hope he is wrong. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
junkman Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 SPRING? The last time I looked at the calender it was still winter.
fishinwrench Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Y'all gotta realize that the weatherman has nothing to sell besides bad news, if all they did was tell you things were as they should be then nobody would sit through one of their "forcasts". So calm down, Spring ain't over.
Guest Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I could do without all the flooding and chaos, but if it breaks loose, we should post up and drink a cold beer nothing like the sound of raging floodwater up close
Guest Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AMOUNTS FROM 4 TO 8 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS A GOOD PORTION OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS. SOME ISOLATED AREAS COULD RECEIVE RAINFALL AMOUNTS BETWEEN A FOOT AND 15 INCHES. WIDESPREAD AND POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC AREAL FLOODING AND RIVER FLOODING IS EXPECTED. HOWEVER...THE POTENTIAL FOR LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING IS ALSO HIGH...THUS THE FLOOD WATCH WILL BE CHANGED TO A FLASH FLOOD WATCH.
fishinwrench Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Seriously? They started predicting widespread catastrophic flooding 2 days before the first drop falls ? Has NOAA ever done that before?
Feathers and Fins Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Seriously? They started predicting widespread catastrophic flooding 2 days before the first drop falls ? Has NOAA ever done that before? Yes right before Katrina! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
junkman Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 As much as I hate to see that much rain fall at one given time, here where I live it actually makes the fishing better. You have to realize I live close to the head waters of the big Osage river. And as well have been fishing the Marais des Cygnes river over in Kansas. Although these rivers in my opinion are not a Ozark stream due to their muddy nature, they yet can produce some amazing walleye, crappie, and catfish fishing if we have the right amount of water to bring them up out of Truman lake. Probably many of you have never thought about hitting a river when it is way out over it's banks to fish it, but here this is called cat-fishing at its best. I guess I live in a unique spot, for if we get to much rain fishing is great, and if we don't, I come visit you guys over east and south for some great fishing. A win win when it comes to fishing but my garden is a different story.
laker67 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 SPRING? The last time I looked at the calender it was still winter. It's crazy spring/winter for sure. I was out cleaning gutters this am before the rains, and noticed that my neighbor has not one, but two lilac bushes in full purple flower bloom. Did we lose a month on the calendar?
