Ron, what exactly bothers you about a CPR tournament? People are out catching fish, taking pictures of them, and then releasing them anyway. This just gives them an outlet to possibly win something for submitting a picture. CPR is the way tournaments will be headed. ALL kayak tournaments utilize this method and it is by far the most conservative and least obtrusive and dangerous method for a tournament format. Further, they are month long events, you can fish whereever, whenever (within the state boundaries), so it's not like we are putting 30 anglers on the same stretch of river in a day or weekend.

You go fishing just like you always do every season. Nothing is different except now you can win something for submitting your photo. There is no downside to that.

MSA is helping the sponsor the event. We will have slide shows of the winning fish during the MSA meeting following that event. Winners will be recognized at the meeting and will be given their prizes.

There's allready tournaments on the Gasconade for bass, thankfully gas prices have put a damper on the shoalrunner crowd. I was thinking maybe I could put my sponsor patches on on my old tennis shoes that I wade fish in most of the time when I'm trying to have fun and relax. A rebel craw patch should fit just right on my size 15 xw foot, right before I put it up the backside of the first guy that tries to elbow me out of the way to fish a hole so he can win a tournament.

powerboat tournaments* which this isn't.

and since it's a month long photo submission contest, you don't need to worry about being elbow to elbow with other anglers. Fish your own spots, on your own time. Take a picture, per the guidelines and submit it. Doesn't get much easier and unobtrusive than that.

Oh. The way you presented them as opposed to the other sponsors made it sound as if they were really involved. It's gonna kinda suck though if someone wins and can't attend the meeting due to distance and such.

CPR Tourneys have been around longer than given credit. They were a big deal in FL and were great, last tourneys I fished were CPR. It gave everyone in the 2 day to 1 month tourneys down there a chance at a win. Had divisions for all ages. FL did them on Redfish a break off of the Spots and Dots tourneys.

I enjoyed them as they were a no pressure no attitutude tourney and had no eltieness to them. Overall winner in one was a 14 year old girl with 73 spots. Just flat out fun.

so if i just want to wade i need to drag a canoe around behind me for the photos?

Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds.

then you won't need to worry about having anything other than the measuring device and unique identifier in your photo (maybe your foot and additional pictures of the angler and the fish are always welcome too). the idea is to promote kayak/canoe/wade/tube ie self powered fishing.

and you'll probably want the expandable meauring board if you don't have one already. bps makes a folding one that would fit in a vest or you could stick in your waist band. you want to make sure the numbers are clearly visible in your photo.
