Duck Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 New to the A-rig, do you use a swivel between the head and main line? How do you prevent the line from tangling between the wires on the cast or retrieve? Thanks, Duck.
dtrs5kprs Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 I have a swivel built into some of mine, not on the ones with poured or shaped heads. As for the line, a lot is in how you throw it. Kind of a long slow "unwinding" to throw for me.
Bill Babler Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Did he just ask the 64 Million Dollar Question? No swivel is needed, just allows another breaking point. Tie directly to the head. www.pigsticker.com Easy to prevent the wrap. thumb your bait before it hits the water and allow the rig to turn over just like a fly cast and it will not tangle or wrap. Give it a lobb, not a moon shot and at the end of the length before it starts to fall thumb the spool. The rig will turn over perfect and no problem Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members naru70 Posted April 15, 2012 Members Posted April 15, 2012 Bill have you gone to the site you posted? www.pigsticker.com I came up with some tattoo site.
dtrs5kprs Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 This is the one you want: http://pigstickerbait.com/ Only have the swivel on the ones I built with multiple wires out the front. Doesn't seem like a great idea to tie straight to that. The fly cast description is right on. Kind of like a carolina rig with a super long leader.
Dutch Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I for one use a swivel. It is big and strong and allows me to quickly change from one A-rig to another that is setup differently. I only have one stick rigged for As.
Duck Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Bill, thanks very much, it worked great with casting real. I threw on a spinning rig today and just feathered it a bit at the end and that also worked. Caught some nice whites up the White but had to work. Duck.
