gotmuddy Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Some were up near powersite. The weigh-in today was awesome, even though no one could catch brandon, he only needed 1lb and change to win. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Fishin Hodge Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 I was at diamond city yesterday and I can tell you somewhere around 20 of the top 50 ran past diamond city yesterday. Sugarloafs were the king of the big bite seemed like. They are going to get beat to death not that they already didnt, and the "road bed" we call it the old bridge, is going to be absolutely smashed for the time being. It has always been hit and miss but he hit it perfectly. I really can't believe it spit out three consecutive 20 pound bags. He knew how to fish a big crankbait and must have really figured out the exact angle. He deserves a lot of respect for basically 20 pounds a day four days in a row. He was doing a cool little line up trick with the butt and tip of his rod. Looked a little odd but it sure worked for him.
Fishin Hodge Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 LJ, Should air either this Sunday, April 29th, or the next one. BASS gets the tournaments on TV pretty quick.
roy_eros Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Talked to Brandon just before weigh in yesterday. He said he had found a few "small" spots on a big spot that were key to getting big bites.
Gone Fishing Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 I am coming down this weekend and was thinking of fishign from Peel to the mouth of Theodosia but I haven't heard of a bite in that area. Is the water color the same in that area as down around Lead Hill?
Fishin Hodge Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 Gone fishing, I went fishing yesterday. The crankbait bite in the Lead Hill area has slowed down and the water is clearing daily. Bet the water between Peel and the mouth of Thedosia will have cleared a lot by this weekend. If there is not a good breeze my experience yesterday told me you may have to back off and fish for them with something other than crankbait, ecspecially as the water clears. There seems to be a crankbait bite in any of the more stained water you can find basically everywhere but it is not as good as it was last week. These fish have seen a crazy amount of crankbaits in the last week. I look for the fishing to be a little tougher than it was for several more days and pick back up as the moon comes around due as much to the fishing pressure as anything else.
Ham Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I do not believe the smallies have spawned yet. Has anyone had much of a smallie grub bite yet? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Ham Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 After some early domestic duties, I plan on hitting it hard. I have a half dozen ideas for how to fish running around in my head. HOPEFULLY, I'll figure something out and catch 50 or so. I plan on it being a catch and release trip UNLESS another >18 inch walleye decides to take a whack at my bait. Members abbfish Posted April 26, 2012 Members Posted April 26, 2012 I was a marshal this past weekend. I got paired up with Matt Greenblatt on Thursday and he mainly fished down by the dam (11+ pounds). Pete Ponds on Friday and that was in the Theodosia area (12+ pounds). Mike Iaconelli on Saturday and he fished around the saddle area, 11 pounds 15 oz. They were all cranking, shallow crankbaits, wiggle warts, and Ike told it like it was at the weigh in. He used a WW and a Rapala. I learned a lot and had a blast going 70 mph. I can't wait to see the show this weekend. I gonna record it and burn it to DVD.
