Jason Essary Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Ok guys, whats everyones thought. We caught an 8lber this week with a bloody tail, but other than that saw no sign of spawning. Do you think they are still wanting to do their thing? Or im starting to believe that most have gave up on it this year? Jerry Rapp Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 mother nature has a funny way of making things even. The next good warming trend will bring all the species back in for a normal spawn. That warming trend looks like it will begin toward the end of the week. As usual, end of April, first part of May will be spawn time in the Ozarks. My grandpa always said it was related to the amount of daylight. Words of wisdom, most every year in my many years of watching it has held true.
Alex Heitman Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 I still think there are a lot yet to spawn. I caught several Kentuckies and Largemouth this weekend fat as could be with bloody tails. It's definetly been a weird year for the spawn though.
edyer Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 The first week of April we caught a 5.9 LM in Aunts Creek that had spawned out and a 4.8 LM in Fisher's Creek that had spawned out. Of course all fish don't spawn at the same time and there will be another wave of fish the next full moon or warm spell.
Tfsh4bass Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Obviously some have spawned but there will be another wave come up with this warming trend and full moon the first week of May
dtrs5kprs Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Catching pre and post often in the same type of place around 13. Have only seen one for sure and certain bed. That was up in Whites Branch. Watched him fan for a few minutes but he was still alone. Might be dry now.
powerdive Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Was trolling cranks for walleye at Baxter on Saturday. Turned out I was bass fishing (yuck). Caught 25+ bass, all varieties. Had 7 or 8 in the 17" class. Caught bass at all depths from 14-27'. Most of the larger fish came from 23-27' on the edges of flats, and all looked spawned out.
duckydoty Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Caught a 3 lb LM in Aunts Creek this morning. She was soooo fat with eggs, I thought she was gonna pop. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
