riverfish Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 i got on a bluff end pocket pattern up around the sk area on sturday throwing a strike king xd6 in a gizzard shad color just grinding the bottom in 10 to 13 fow had a good limit maybe 13lb give or take a pound seemed like the fish would eat it just as the bait was starting to reach its full depth potential and just starting to not be in contact with the bottom any longer tried to slow down hoping to get a better fish on a jig and they seemed to get smaller that way i did try going all the way to the back of a pocket and nothing back there for me so i just stayed on the ends and just inside the mouths and the fish seemed to all be mostly on the outside must of had something to do with that cold snap where they could retreat a little faster it was kinda slow but it worked
Members brian c Posted April 25, 2012 Members Posted April 25, 2012 Now I've got to make a decision. I don't fish for bass much and I don't keep bass when I catch them, but I DO like to fish the post-spawn on Tablerock. When it's time for Senkos, grubs, and crankbaits I can usually get in a few spring trips and have fun catching bass - and it sounds like it's that time. On the other hand, I think I could go over to Bull Shoals again this week, have the lake pretty much to myself, and catch another limit of crappie. A lot of boat traffic does bother me, and I hate to hear that's going on right now. Champ188, you said in a few more days the derby swarm will be gone - I don't know the schedules, when is that gonna be? I go fishing to relax, not to aggravate myself. tyson tournaments on bull shoals this weekend and runs 250-300 boats so more than likely will be busy on the bull as well.

BASS is Thu/Fri then cuts to top 12 (or about that). On top of that I think there is a chance the lake will fish pretty small. Especially if the wind continues. Have had a good full dose of that wind.
Bill Babler Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I pretty much stunk it up out of Aunts Creek today on my morning trip. Only 4 keeps, and 9 shorts. Just could not get it figured. 3 super quality fish came on a PigSticker 3/8th. oz. early and then one really nice jaw on a tube mid-morning. Those 4 weighed 13.5. Rest of the deal was tough as shoe leather for me. All 9 shorts came on the grub, one here and one there. Tried to find my same pattern from yesterday in a different location, and it failed. Going to try Shell Knob tomorrow. Hope its better. I have not even seen a fish on the surface in the last 3 weeks. I think they are scared to go into the light. Has anyone heard of any type of a A-Rig bit. Have thrown it the last few days, but Zilch Good Luck. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Just hard to stay on the right places with that wind blowing right down the lake. Had one take a slap at the fin today. Only one this trip. Made a compact A rig for a guy fishing the BASS and got it to him today. Like the one Shuffield threw. No clue what he is doing with it but seems excited.

Should note...if wind blows like that tomorrow I think I will wash and wax the Ranger. Done with that noise.
dwiebenga Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 If the wind blows....put your head down...pick up a blade....and have at it! I did really well in the wind on the blade
Members Mike3004 Posted April 26, 2012 Members Posted April 26, 2012 After 4 PM ventured out to a wind blown point near the place where we are staying. Coming up on the backside of the point from the wind I caught several smallmouth and a Kentucky on a smoke grub. None measured but alot of fun!
