Feathers and Fins Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Well I went today and my honest impression is "they wont last long here" if they do not get thier prices in order. Heavy Shot #4's box of 10 was over 40 dollars vs Rogers Sporting goods 21 dollars. I saw some Kimbers that were 100 dollars more than at other local stores and honestly the Fishing department was not near as good as HLS who will be keeping my business hands down. The worse of the day was the mounts even my wife was commenting how bad they were AND kept asking why the fish tails in the tanks were messed up so bad. Guess Rogers and Basspro keep my Hunting Business and HLS keeps my fishing business untill Cabelas gets the pricing right. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jeb Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I would not expect much on pricing changes. Like I said early in this thread, Cabela's is almost always MSRP. I guess having spent so much time in Cabela's stores over the years, I just assume that's what I'll find now. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Feathers and Fins Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 less money spent on the pretty more savings to the customer would be a solution and generate them more money IMO. Guess its why you always hear about Rogers Sporting Goods being the go to for hunting gear. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Stump bumper Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 I have always thought of them as a store for people who don't care about cost and always believe if you pay more for something it is better. Plenty of them around here, then people like me will stop by once a month to check the bargain cave. If you make a lot on everything you sell you don't have sell a lot, but nice to have another place to shop during bad weather.
Quillback Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I'm not going to defend Cabelas pricing, it is high, but sometimes in the Bargain Cave (online or at the store) you can get some pretty good deals. And if you're looking for jigging spoons, the Real Image spoons will catch bass and walleye and the price is right.
