eyeman Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 i have never been to pomme ,but i was wondering on the quality of the walleye fishing there and also how it would compare to stockton lake?
shockley32 Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I've only caught one by accident, sorry not much help. I'm planning on spending some time on Pomme trying to solve the walleye puzzle. The walleye bite is hot on Stockton right now, going to head over there in the morning and give it a go. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
oneshot Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Ok Lately I've had Good reports of Walleyes being caught.I did see a Good one the other day. Sorry not much info but all I have. oneshot
Members Muskie Bob Posted May 6, 2012 Members Posted May 6, 2012 fishing prospects - "Walleye population densities are fair to good due to past stockings. Many of the walleye exceed the 15" minimum length limit, and the opportunity to catch a legal-sized fish is good." If you are mainly after walleyes, go to Stockton. I've caught several walleyes while fishing for bass or trolling a walleye lure. However, I have never caught a daily limit of them. But, the walleye fishing seems to improve each year. I think that is a direct result of the past stockings as reported in the fishing prospects. I hope the stocking continues. Those walleyes are good eating.
Members KC Bass Fanatic Posted May 7, 2012 Members Posted May 7, 2012 I've caught several fishing crankbaits for bass on rocky points and flats. Every single one I have caught has been legal and a couple were in the 20" class.
sandbc Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 My brother fishes pomme and keeps me posted on whats happening there for when I want to come up. He told me his neighbors have been having good luck on the eyes this past week. I dont have a pomme map but he said they are catching them on Morgans Flats which if I understood his directions is not to far from the dam up the Pomme arm. Maybe that will help someone. Good luck.
Members Muskie Bob Posted May 7, 2012 Members Posted May 7, 2012 Never heard of Morgan's Flats. Martin Flats isn't too far from the dam and is fairly well known for walleye. Could it be Martin Flats?
Jerry Rapp Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I would guess with high certainty that it is Martin Flats. Several humps on it. About 10 years I caught several walleyes on a long main lake up just up the lake from there.
sandbc Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I certainly could be wrong on the name but it would the first mistake I ever made. LOL. Like I said I dont have a map of Pomme so i probably misunderstood my brother but he did say something about the humps.
MOPanfisher Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Yep that would be martins flats. I was fishing last night and we caught 3 walleye, one keeper and two shorts. Pomme has a pretty good population of walleye, however the problem as I see it for walleye fishing compared to stockton is that we don't have the really good places to fish for them. Stockton is blessed with many many windy chunk rock points and areas they love, pomme not so much and the few areas that are pretty good are well known.
