Jack Jones Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 Mitch, it's a nice concept but I wouldn't know where to begin. SInce you appear to do so, care to give references to websites that sell products for such, and/or maybe discuss the process, cost of investment, etc..? Probably want a new thread for it so we don't jack this one, but that would be an interesting topic. Members jackie Posted May 17, 2012 Members Posted May 17, 2012 A 2.5 in black salt double dipped tube with red and green flake with a 1/8 oz leadhead with # 4 hook inside on 4 lb mr crappie camo line on a 6-6 or 7'-0 med lite g-loomis rod.
moguy1973 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 One more option is raid the Bass Pro outlet store for the bulk plastics - I have probably 15 pounds of their Stik -O's in half a dozen colors from doing that. Yum Dingers hold up a little better, too. But sometimes a really soft Senko is the lure they want more than anything - then it gets expensive. I've used the BPS stick-o's before and they work well, but I've had much more luck using the Yum Dingers. I caught a lot of fish on the white w/silver flake last year on them. Not sure if the Yum F2 scent that's on them or what but I picked up a lot more bites and fish on the Yum's than the BPS's. The Yum's also have a nice litte pocket on the side of them that hides the hook point real nice. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Yeah the scent thing can help too - I like to take the lures that aren't scented and throw them in with the one that are. Yum's have a good "stink" to them.
UnCivE Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I see a lot about the weightless. How are you folks able to cast a weightless plastic any distance? I'm using a spinning reel. Is that the problem, or is there something I'm missing? Senkos are pretty heavy for plastics... I throw 4" weightless senkos pretty easy with my baitcasters on a 7 ft rod, 6" senkos fly a LONG way. I can throw weightless worms of other varieties, but it can get a little rough in the wind. I think if you give em a shot you'll see they've got some weight built in.
UnCivE Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Weightless senko's are a favorite. If the darn things would hold up for more than one or two fish they would be ideal. Can anyone suggest a similar bait that would last longer? Honestly, I've had senkos last multiple trips , not unusual to use the same worm for 10 fish. I usually will take off the bait and rotate it or slightly offset the hook from the previous spot to get some "fresh" plastic on it. It seems to work well enough for me. I don't fish the 6-7 dollar a bag senkos either, I usually buy the 2-3 dollar a bag knockoffs.
