Oh one other thing. It also has, dare I say it, Elk. They seem to being just fine.

Yep, wandering around on private farmland just fine. Oops, that is why they shot one.

I am torn between the beauty of the prairie and the Ozarks. So glad I live next to both!!!

I hear ya Chief. I think I would take prairie winter and spring and Ozarks summer and fall, but that's just a rough draft. There's still variants between the two.

I would love to see the Elk in Questions Radio Collar data to show us where exactly this Elk roamed around to. I noticed it was shot very close to AR, I wonder what the Policy of MDC would be if the animals actually cross the border?

That is the type of question that will help us all figure this out.

That may be something that MDC and ADC (if that is what they call themselves) need to figure out.

I am pretty sure that Arkansas would not want to use their time and $$ to chase down one of OUR elk (I say OUR as a Missourian, nothing against Arkansasians ... is that how to spell that???).

Its AGFC and I am curious that if one of the Elk crossed the border what would be the Policy for both departments, I doubt AGFC would want MDC to come to Arkansas and Kill an animal for crossing the border. AGFC has shown they want the Elk in AR to spread out and repopulate the Ozarks.

I know where a few Elk are that are a long way from Ponca and pretty neat seeing them, I would have a hard time beleiving AGFC doesnt know they are there kinda big and hard animals to miss.

Heck i wonder if it wouldnt be a crime for MDC to cross the border and shoot one even.

I would think there would be some federal rules/laws about seperate states crossing the border without proper notification and protocol. Assuming that both MDC and AGFC would know what the laws are.

I have heard of Elk north of the Arkansas border before Missouri got into the Elk game (heard not seen).

Why don't we compile a list of questions and I will email some of my contacts at MDC (I teach Conservation and Hunter Ed at Ozark Junior High).

First question I would ask is for MDC to provide the Elks Collar Data as to where at had been roaming for that matter why not do what they did with the ducks and just put the info on the web?

If you all want to post any question on here (please word it in a professional matter so that I don't have to change it), then I will compile a list over the next few days and post the "finalized" list on here and we will go from there.

Enjoy your day guys and gals,

Some questions to start with ...

Why could they not sedate this particular Elk?

Where have the Elk been roaming (actual data from collars ... preferably online)?

What is considered Elk area (where can the Elk roam without getting tazed (don't taze me man) or shot)? I will change the wording.

What is the standard protocol for an Elk that strays from the "area"?

What would happen if an Elk crossed the border (has a more dramatic effect if I don't include state)?

Why the heck are we capitalizing the word Elk ... My dad is an Elk's Lodge member ... is that why??? You guys can answer this one ... haha

Keep the questions coming ...
