Quillback Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Anybody else watching it? I'm disappointed with the first 2 episodes. It's way too long, seems to drag on forever and some of the acting is bad. I was looking forward to seeing it and now, after the first two episodes I don't think I'll watch the 3rd one.
eric1978 Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I've been watching it. It's about what'd I'd expect from a miniseries on the History Channel, even with Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton involved. I told my wife last night that it's a weird movie because I find myself not rooting for anyone...they were all idiots. So that probably doesn't help either. I'm gonna finish it, though.
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I find it interesting. I try not to judge anything that follows history, it shouldn't be changed for the sake of entertainment in my view. It does drag in many ways, but there's a lot to insert in order to bring a bigger picture in a short time. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Justin Spencer Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I've recorded it and watched it without commercials the last two nights, it's okay, but if I had to wait through all the commercials don't think I'd stick with it. That's true, nobody to root for, complete idiocy on both sides.
ness Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Well, I was ticked that I forgot to set up the DVR for this. Not so much now. I have seen a documentary on those guys -- maybe it was American Experience -- that was pretty good. John
Gavin Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 We watched half of the first one...and decided not to waste our time with that trash. Weak script and a bunch of unredeeming characters, IMO.
cnr Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found it weak. I really wanted to like it but haven't been able to get through the first episode. You would think they could of written a story that wasn't so boring and filled with petty bickering. The Civil war era was a pivotal time period in our history and I am sure the people were more interesting than the portrayal of them in this mini-series.
eric1978 Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 You would think they could of written a story that wasn't so boring and filled with petty bickering. The Hatfield/McCoy feud was essentially petty bickering...gonna be tough to stay true to the story without it. Maybe they shoulda thrown some Transformers in there or something to keep peoples' attention. The first half of the second episode was the best part so far...lots of good gratuitous killin' and stuff.
Justin Spencer Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 If that's petty bickering, I'd hate to see what you all consider a real feud. You'uns are tougher than I.
