Hopefully he will get over taking the fish after a few more. I used to take quite a few, then stopped for good. He'll mature.

For me it's not so much about taking fish, but which fish you're taking. Leave that brown in the river and take a few silver bullets. They're better eating, more abundant, and not such a thrill to catch. That brown would make sub-par table fare, and it's too small for a mount...keeping it is all about ego and bragging rights...and I'm not that impressed, personally.

Silver bullets better eating? Sub-par table fare? Its obviouls that you've never eaten one. :secret-laugh:

Oh yeah. Neon orange-pink trout meat rules. Sorry to the C&R crowd, but it does.

Not all of us have Gavin Lagasse with gourmet cooking skills to prepare our meals. Nope, I've never eaten a big brown...the meat sure looks like it wouldn't be that great, though...and most people say it's not as good. I'm not that crazy about trout in general.

Best is wild brookie with vidalias, lemon pepper, butter, on the grill, with, a nice IPA...:)

I have killed and eaten only one 20 inch plus brown,a fish that I wasn't able to revive. I thought the meat tasted okay, but nothing special enough for me to want to keep one on purpose, given how relatively few of them there are. I do like to kill fish to eat occasionally, and if I'm on the Current that's when I drive upstream to Montauk and spend a half-hour to get a couple of stockers...That's what the trout parks are there for.
