Jdecoudres Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Im looking a fly box similiar to this one. Like the ones you see in fly shops. Anyone know where you can purchase one? Thanks
Gavin Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Dunno....but call a fly shop..plano boxes will be allot cheaper.
ness Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Looks like an Umpqua logo on that one. Might try there. John
Idylwilde Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 The last box like that we bought for the shop was $275.00 Nice but not cheap. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
jdmidwest Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Looks more like some sort of sewing box than a fly tying box. Try a craft shop or hobby center. Is this for portable tying? If so, look at one of the briefcase types or maybe a wood tool box that looks like the old Gersterner boxes. strangercreek Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I asked a fly shop in Lawrence KS if they would sell theirs when they were doing some rearranging. They told me umpqua only gives them retailers supposedly. It was that exact box as well. That info might be incorrect. I would call Umpqua. I'll bet its expensive. I would think some plexiglass or acrylic and a fine blade on a band saw with some clear epoxy or silicone, you could build it.
jdmidwest Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I still have some old Orvis display boxes from a shop I used to manage. It could have been a special run of something to display the Umpqua flys for the retailers. But it may have been mass produced somewhere for resale. Are you wanting to display flies or use it on the fly tying station? "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
