mic Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 All, Headed down to Branson for a long weekend and staying at the Silver Dollar City campground. I "think" this is on Indian Point. 1. Is that correct? 2. Is there a public location nearby that I can bank fish for some cats?
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 It's actually on hyway 265 east of IP. There's a state park on Indian Point and one just pass the TR dam which is on 265. You also have the tail water there, if you get a hankering for trout. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
denjac Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I think you are staying at the wilderness, if so Dewy Short would be your best bet. Go across the dam and its the first right. Cant miss it. Lots of shoreline there to fish. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. mic Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 Thank denjac and Wayne. I just found out my Dad's timeshare, Stormy Point, has a dock. It looks like there might be rip rap there also (from Goggle maps). I'll probably just fish from there and leave my wife and kid with my parents. Aren't I nice. I still suck at fishing for cats, but hopefully I'll get a couple of bits.
Iclass Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Brother in law fished last week from the bank with raw shrimp soaked in garlic, he caught enough to keep him out for a few hours. He said his biggest was about 4lb, mostly 1 1/2-2lb tho. Caught all from bank at a condo in Kim City.
mic Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 I'm going to have a little fun and try a hotdog recipe. Hotdogs soaked in garlic and cherry cool aid. I'm not expecting much, but the "developer" of it swears buy it. I might try dogs in anise oil. I'm taking worms to catch bluegill and use for cut bait. Wish me luck.
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I'm taking worms to catch bluegill and use for cut bait. I would take a fly rod and some small flies, and some poppers for fun. Use 2" perch live on a rod, TR is loaded with flatheads. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

abkeenan Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 The majority of flatheads I've caught lately have been on cut bream....go figure, I always heard they only eat live bait? I have always thought the same thing. My grandfather told me that the flatheads will only go after live bait and that is why they taste better than the channels/blues/etc because those are more or a scavenger and will eat dead or rotten meat/fish. But there are a lot of "old timer" claims and tales that really have no factual/scientific proof just hearsay handed down through generations. Sometime true, sometimes not. Would like to hear from a biologists if it is true or not.
