Mitch f Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 A few days of complaining isn’t too bad, a fisherman can live with that. For a while I had to deal with complaining most of the month with just a few days of peace. I had to make a decision, what can I live without a wife or rivers, rivers won. Now all is right with the world and I have fallen back into the routine I’ve had most of my life, plan on Wednesday, pack on Thursday, leave on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the river, unpack Monday, laundry Tuesday, Wednesday start the routine over. The wonderful woman who is now in my life understands how I choose to live and is 100% supportive. Kind of hard to improve on your routine!!!! "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Al Agnew Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 My Grandpa once took off fishing with a buddy on a Thursday. Granny asked him as he was leaving when he'd be home. "Saturday." Saturday rolled around and no Grandpa. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday...by about Thursday Granny was starting to worry a bit. By Saturday she was ready to call out the troops to find him, when he came rolling in about dark. She ran out and asked where in the world he had been. He just looked at her and said, "I told you Saturday...jist didn't say which Saturday!" Mary seldom balks at my fishing trips. She's long since learned that if I don't go for at least a whole day every five days or so, I get very grumpy, and more importantly, unproductive in the studio. She does ask me when I expect to be home. I generally tell her a time that's an hour or so later than when I REALLY expect to be home...and usually end up being home about the time I told her. And when she goes on a float trip with me, she always asks how many miles it is, and I tell her it's a mile longer than it is. And when, during the float, she asks me how many more miles we have to go, I tell her a figure that's a mile longer than it actually is. She still swears that every float trip we go on is a mile too long.

stlfisher Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I have a pretty good gig in my fiance spends every Sunday with her mom. That pretty much gives me the whole day to fish....and she doesn't give me any grief. I usually take a weekend trip every 6 weeks or so and squeeze a few short evening trips during the week when I can. This has worked well so far...although she does say "you love fishing more than me." The only tension we have is when she wants to go out after I have been on the water all day. I have to explain that a whole day on the water can be tiring and when I get home I am pretty exhausted.
