Daryk Campbell Sr Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 10-15 times on a GOOD year lately. Same story as most, kids, jobs, household duties.... I used to go out a couple of times a week...... Sometimes I can go down to the Mississippi at the St Louis Riverfront and sit imagining I'm fishing for about 20 minutes while I wait for the wife. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. ozark trout fisher Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 What helps me get on the water a decent number of days each year is my willingness to fish anywhere...Like the stream I've probably fished more than anywhere else this year, a little creek that is so polluted that I'm a bit surprised it isn't a superfund site...but it's close and has a few smallmouth, so I roll with it. Though I've already been smallie fishing right around 50 times this year, only 15-20 of them have been spent on what you'd call honest to goodness Ozark streams. A lot of the time, it comes down to either fishing marginal water for an hour or two or not fishing at all, and I'll just about always choose the first option there.
dennis boatman Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 ...in my mind I go about every 10 minutes or so...in reality about 50 times per year... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
KCRIVERRAT Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I fish in my mind every day. I just can't seem to catch'em that way... HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS

Greasy B Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 One thing is evident from the responses, proximity to water directly relates to the amount of time spent fishing. I guess the second and third consideration would be family and financial. Other than some fair to middling local Bluegill lakes all my fishing involves a road trip. I had to break the year down by season to come up with a guesstimate. A three day New Years trip to White River usually starts the cycle. Typically one weekend in each Jan, Feb and March trout fishing. A few trips fishing for pre-spawn Smallmouth between mid march and mid April. The next two months are spent Bluegill fishing, maybe three weekend destination trips and fifteen or twenty evenings at local lakes. In the summer my goal is three weekends a month but I usually fall short. Half of September has been spent trout fishing out west, twelve glorious days in paradise. A mix of trout and Smallmouth fishing closes the year out. I came up with about 65 days, maybe 15 of those being three hour evening trips. Midwest troutbum Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 10-20 times per year....I talk about going fishing more than I actually can get away anymore.....but all that may change if work goes to furlow..... then the excuse will be cost of gas to get to the streams will cost too much.....doh! LittleRedFisherman Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 First of all, I don't go near enough... I'm seasonal with my fishing, in the summer months I go maybe twice a month if I'm lucky, in the Winter which is my off season, I'll go 2 to 3 times a week, for that I'm fortunate, but would love to get more time in the spring and summer months....Since getting into smallmouth fishing, and flyfising several years ago, I've all but hung up my duck waders. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
kevthebassman Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 If you don't count little trips to the subdivision ponds around town, I'd say probably ten trips.
