BATCAB27 Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Looking to buy a new 2-3 man tent since the kids have hijacked mine to the backyard. I only use one a few times a year on overnight float trips, so don't need anything real expensive. Anybody have any recommendations under $100???
Ham Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Watch for sales. Lots of nice tents out there that meet you needs, I have a Eureka Apex 3 with aluminum poles that I got for just a little more than you listed. I really like it, but it's a 2 person tent and you better like that other person. Sierra Trading,REI, Backcountry, or other online retailers should have several in sale at your price to choose from. ollie Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Campmoor also has a very large selection to choose from. I have an Eureka 2 man A-frame tent and love it. Gavin Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Look for sales at Sierra Trading Post, Campmor, REI, etc..there should be plenty of them available in the next month or two. Get a 3-4 season tent with aluminum poles.
taxidermist Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Best really a term that only you can determine. How I see best may not be what you would think is best.
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 They aren't cheap but it's hard to beat the Eureka Timberline. They haven't been around for 20 years because they're a so so tent. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
MoSportsmen Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 They are a classic. I am sure they been around longer that 20 though. I know my sister has one that has to be over 30 years old.......she probably hasn't used it in that long though, so no testament there. Wish she would just give it to me to see if it still works. Ask her if you can assume ownership. Don't spend money if you don't have to do so. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I'm sure you're right, I was confident in the 20 year statement however. It's rare with new tents coming out every year and if you break a pole you may or may not be able to replace it. I know the Timberline will stand up to storms, can be put up by one person and most can enter and leave without crawling in the 4. The 6 is nice, but it is only made in the Outfitter now and cost a lot of $. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
MoSportsmen Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Don't need it, just bought a nice dome I can almost stand in. The timberline would have some aplications where I would prefer it though.....like a float camp I have planned in the near future. Messing about in boats
