Chief Grey Bear Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I discovered Falcon rods a few years ago and I haven't looked back since. But this isn't so much about the rod as it is about their customer service. To bring you up to speed, earlier this year, during turkey season, Dylan was using my Falcon rod and it broke. When I got back, I headed back to Academy to see what we could do. They looked it up and discovered they didn't stock that particular rod anymore. They offered me my money back. But what they offered was only $20. Are you freaking kidding me??? $20???? I paided $70!!! The reason they only offered $20 is that since they were not going to carry this particular rod, they had kept discounting it to get rid of all the stock. If I would have known that, I would have bought a bunch of them for $20!!! I told them I really don't want the money, I want another rod. So they started to head back to the fishing section and I said don't bother, you don't have any here. They again were at a loss so I suggested they get one from another store. What a novel idea, a store transfer! To the computer we went. They found 1. Only 1 in the whole system. They put in the request to have it shipped and told me it would take about two weeks. They took my name and number and would call when it came in. Two weeks go by. Three weeks go by. The fourth week I go to get some answers. Nope, nothing yet. Eight freaking weeks, 2 months, go by and I am getting rather warm but remain calm. Finally 3 months into this, I go back and find a different manager and tell him the story. He immediately gets to cracking on the case. He see's there is a rod in cyber land but can't quite follow the tracking of it. BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRACKING!!!!!!! All he can find is the request and that it was shipped. It has now vanished. He states he will call their buyers and have them find one. He takes my name and number and will call me Monday. Monday comes and goes. And so does every other day of the week. I go back two weeks later and find him. "Ummm, yeah, they can't get one." Oh yeah, you couldn't call me???? So this week I had some business that took me to Tulsa. I thought well, I have nothing to loose at this point, I'll take the rod with me and run by the headquarters and see what will happen. I take care of my bussiness and run to Falcon. I walk in the door, look around for a second and a nice young man walks out. I show him the rod and ask if there is anything they could or would do. He takes it, looks at it. Says I'll be right back. He is gone all of about 90 seconds and comes back out with a brand new rod. Hands it to me and says "here ya go, these just came in". That simple. Thank you Falcon Rods! You guy's ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I'm kind of rough on gear, so I didn't really hold it against them. I just figured they weren't the rod for me. I may have to reconsider after reading this because I really like their feel in hand.
rps Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I bought a Falcon at the Tulsa Boat show the year they first went on the market. Since then I have owned 8 or 10. Their value for money ratio is very high. Good customer service is just icing for the cake.
ollie Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Your story sounds similiar to mine. I bought my first one back in 2002 and haven't looked back. Their customer service is top notch and I always plug them when I can. I broke my rod myself and all it cost me was shipping to get a brand new one back. That was when Southtown was open and they did all the leg work for me. I just had to pack it and pay for shipping. Plus the rods in my opinion are very sensitive. Daryk Campbell Sr Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Good thread. I like to hear of the good things, all to often we rant about bad things and the good ones get lost. Good job Falcon! Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Members Nolan_Whaley Posted July 20, 2012 Members Posted July 20, 2012 I think the Falcon rods are the right combination of performance and price. I've managed to wrangle a couple of Cara's, and i love those rods. But for the money.... The Bucco is darned good rod.. Especially if you catch them at the Academy rod riot for $80.
Guest Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 My best 4 or 5 rods are all falcons. Cara, Lowrider, and Bucoo... Ive owned about every brand of rod you can think of and these are my favorites by far.
Midwest troutbum Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Sounds like the main company headquarters understands good pr. The retail store in which the rod was purchased would loose all my business in a heartbeat. I personally like st croix rods. They have a long standing no questions asked full replacement policy and have high quality and high durability rods in varying price ranges. Made and assembled in USA with USA materials and labor. Are you sure about that? Last time I tried to turn a St Croix back to Cabelas they said I had to send it back to St Croix And pay $45 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Jason Essary Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Im with mitch. I tried to deal with St. Croix on a rod that my dad bought and broke. Sent in the money and it never got picked up.
