White-River-Brown-36-pounds.jpg

Guide Jeff Moore of http://arkansastroutguide.com had a fisherman land this fish.

36.7 pounds.

Released.

Near State Park below Bull Shoals Dam.

Pic sent to me by Jimmy T.

No other info. There's a thread on John Wilson's site started about the fish.

WOW a tremendous brown congrats to the fisherman and the guide.

That's truly a great big fish. Wouldn't mind trout fishing if I could catch hogs like that.

Nice fish. Surprised though that a guide truely concerned with the fishes health would be taking clients out during the extreme heat and drought of this summer. They also had to transport the fish all the way to the states scales to do a weigh in. I doubt the boat is equiped with a large enough livewell for that size of a fish. The fish are already stressed due to the extreme heat this year. Why wouldn't a quick pic in the water have done it justice without the transport to the scales? Better yet why not wait till fall when conditions are better for both fish and man?

your saying the guide shouldn't work when its hot? How do you suppose he would feed his family when its hot out?

everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

And I doubt that the client or the guide will ever boat another fish that large in their lifetime.. Stories like this one need to be told so that fishermen like us can still have our hopes and dreams of catching a fish of this magnitude. The people who manage and maintain the fishery should appreciate and deserve the recognition as well.

At least they let it go. Heck of a fish, and it shows that those brown trout regs are working. I wonder how many of those big browns are in the river. Did they say what it was caught on? Bait or artificial?

I could see being upset about it on a free-flowing stream, but those tailwaters stay dang cold even in the middle of summer. With the fish being caught around 9 am and the guys' staying around a while to make sure it recovered...it seems like they did everything within their power to make sure the fish made it alright. I'm happy with that.

Fish of a lifetime, for sure. Congratulations!
