Members Ultralance12 Posted August 17, 2012 Members Posted August 17, 2012 Hmm. I hadn't even thought of not using my console and now sonar at the same time. Maybe that is why my front one is always gimpy. Thanks for the tip. I think I'll be getting a new one for the bow soon. Any suggestions?
techo Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Going to place todays report on the end of this as I don't have anything spectacular to add other than it was nice out there. I didn't catch anything again. It seems like the Rock makes me pay my dues each time before coughing up a fish or two for me. I marked the fish on the wind blown points with the clouds of baitfish in about 25- 28 feet of water around the areas of point 11 and 12. I just couldn't get them to chase the spoon. I even tried a C-rig today without luck. Was nice getting the little Skeeter out again. Tim Carpenter
Jason Essary Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Sorry to hear techo. I went this morning for 3 hours, caught the trifecta. Keeper smallie, kentuck, and greenback. few other shorts. The best pattern I could find is that once you caught a fish on a bait, take it off and try a different bait. I was prefishing thou, so I was moving alot. Caught fish on a jigging spoon (casting and jigging), pigstickers baxter jig, spinnerbait, popper and a swimmer. Fish came out of 35 to 10 foot, some over 80. Caught fish on a roll off and all the way to the back of a wind feed pocket. techo Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Good news Jason. I did fish pretty hard as the last two times out I was just running the boat. I must be using that spoon wrong! Pre-fishing for the Mill Creek tourney? Tim Carpenter
Bill Babler Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 If you are trying to run both units, no matter what the frequency, they will block each other. Hit power and then enter and put the unit on standby. You will see the difference immediatly. Anyone that runs the big unit on the console is not a Table Rock fisherman. Big unit always goes on the bow. Really all you need is a flasher or a gps unit on the console just to get you in position. Then, get on the trolling motor and fine tune it with the HDS 8 or HDS 10. I don't know very many people that fish from the drivers seat. Well there is one. Great fish Jason. That Swimmer looks familiar, bad eye and all. Was that Brown Bass a chaser? He must have not gotten the memo on the PopR. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members Mart Posted August 18, 2012 Members Posted August 18, 2012 How old is your transducer? The ones I had on my Minkota usually lasted about 6 months. You also must remember you cannot run both units at once. The bottom graph photo is somewhat blured as there was a guy within about 100 yrds. and I was reading his unit. I will have to look at it and see where I currently have it. If you have to turn up that sensitivity higher than about 80%, it usually means the unit is getting weak. I believe that one is set at 72-78 percent. Bill, I have had the same transducers on my front and back for 5 years now. Sounds like from your post above if I replaced the transducer I would see a big difference. Or should I just buck up for all new electronics? I have Lowrance LMS332 and 334 (older units). Thanks!
Chris King Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I have an HDS7 at bow and the console, I was just trying to see the differences in the LSS and the U/S transducers. Didn't mean to hijack your report. Hope to get out with you again soon and will give these settings a try. Off to kayak fish around the cove today...good luck everybody. Â
Jason Essary Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Techo, yes pre for the millcreeks. Bill, I found a yellow magic couple weeks ago for $5. Been dieing to give it a try. That brownie ate it like candy. As he came by the boat the first time I couldnt even see it. She was out in 12'. No rime or reason, and trust me I could not make it happen again. And yes, thats a storm that a keeper kentuck swallowed to the nose. Found a small school chasing and tossed it out. While I was reeling that one in, I saw a large shad get ate close to the boat by a big old green pig. Swear that she looked 8 to 10lb. If only I had footage of the video in my mind. The shad jumped twice and she came out of the water with it disappearing in her mouth as the shad fell on the second jump. I almost stepped on the rod in my hand with the fish attached to cast something else, course she was probably full at that time. And again, I stayed and came back and could never reproduce the kentucky or any of the old girls friends showed themselves. Bill Babler Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 I replace all the hooks on the magics. They are great baits. I didn't look that close at it when I posted, cause I thought I was the only Fool that would pay $20 bucks for a topwater popper. You find anymore for 5 bucks, keep your old buddy in mind. Great Fish and Great Post Thanks Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Feathers and Fins Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Bill take the pics on your phone and upload to Facebook it will resize it for you, then when you get home copy n paste the link to hear and its done makes it pretty simple. If you want hi-res pictures set your camera high and then when you get home ues Photshop and reduce them (size) to 640x480 and save then upload. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
