I guess my point, guys, is that even though I'm theoretically a lot more likely to be run over by a drunk driver, I don't drive a tank to prevent it. To me, the slight possibility of needing the firearm is just one of the risks of life in America, not likely enough to bother going through all the hoops of carrying. I can't predict the future but I can play the percentages.

Al...the numbers I see are showing you have a better chance of being the victim of a violent crime. According to the FBI's national crime statistics, 1.2 million violent crimes were committed in the United States in 2010.

In perspective, you are (when compared to being killed by a drunk driver:)

28.77 times more likely to be killed by a sober driver

13.52 times more likely to die from a fall

8.52 times more likely to be poisoned

4.57 times more likely to die from an injury at work

3.66 times more likely to drown

2.92 times more likely to choke to death

2.34 times more likely to die while under a doctor’s care

You get a little on the maintence and how the clean your gun. A few minutes on the proper way to handle your piece.

What the hell is a piece? Did we slip into a bad 70's cop movie or something?

Ok Timmy, whats your point?

My point is:

Based on your texts so far you're:

1) probably paranoid

2) definitely hyper aggressive

3) likely to be a "bad guy"

What do you do when you come at yourself with a deadly weapon?

Timmy, you are so far off the mark your not even hitting the paper. Good try though. Lets see if I can try that about you.

Based on your texts so far you're:

1) probably slow witted

2) definitely hyper sensitive

3) likely to be a balding fat man.

Good Lord man, fix this statistical mess. You're comparing incidents of violent crime to death rates (death rates compared to being hit by a drunk driver??). Those are completely different things.

How many of those violent crimes involved two morons who decided to have at each other...in a bar...in a bad neighborhood...way too late at night.

Get some sleep and try again tomorrow with the burr out of your blanket.

Normal people don't run those kinds of risks.

Nice try. If you had established any credibility through logic that might have hurt my feelers.

As it is, I'll just assume there's no point in knowing you.

I was merely pointing out that his idea was misled about having a greater chance at being hit by a drunk driver. You see I tend to look into things before spouting off at the mouth about a subject I know little about. (Not that you where Al) I was intrigued by Al 's assumption about being killed by a drunk driver is statistically greater then maybe having to defend yourself from violence. So I decided to post some stats.

You however can judge someone through a few words on a computer screen and make assumptions about his character

I stand in awe of your skills of deduction.
