yaknar Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Kayaked down to Shelvin Rock this week. Had a nice float. No one else on the river. Topwater was working until around 1:30. The cat surprised me. I caught him on a 1/4 oz inline spinner. There were two places on the river, where there was about 7 - 9 cows in both places. Does anyone think it effects your fishing down stream with them pissing in the river? I guess its called fishing in the Ozarks. The smallmouth were sucking down my swimbait, I had to cut the line on two. Just before you get to Shelvin there is a tree across the river, no problem getting around it.
Flysmallie Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 There's a lot of cows in the river down below Galena too. Doesn't seem to affect this fishing but it's nasty. Some pretty good gravel bars down there covered in patties.
Jack Jones Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 So, what's your fave 1/4 inline? I tend to prefer the Mepps Aglia dressed in either Silver Black or Silver White. They've produced in the past for me. As for cows, all I can say is yuck...., especially in the rain when the water carries it downstream. Flysmallie Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Ever do any chip skippin'? No but they make a nice fire to roast marshmallows over.
Jack Jones Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Mmmmm.....poo scented sticky sweet goodness. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
yaknar Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 My favorite 1/4 inline spinners are Joe's Flies. I have tried Mepps and Rooster Tails. I just like the way the flies look, the trailing treble hook, and have confidence in them.
Harps Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 No but they make a nice fire to roast marshmallows over. Yeah.....let's do all that next time we're down there.
